I don't know if any of you guys are familiar with Half.com but it's a "book" store from ebay. this is were i usually do my purchases for school books and stuff. anyways today i was very bored so i decided to look some stuff up and came across these great books and figured i'd let you guys know

1) of course, the First Gen. Haynes repair manual, for those of you who would rather own a copy than to download them from the internet, i have a copy of this myself and its great. it covers all years from 1979-1985 mostly clear instructions (sometimes it uses a bit of terminology that some of us are not familiar with) but it covers just about everything, and has black and white pics also. prices range from 1.50 to about 17.32 U.S. dollars, plus shipping (if you live in the U.S. half.com uses media mail, so shipping is usually under 5 dollars).

2)Mazda Rx7 performance handbook, i've read this before, i don't own it, but it's good reading, lots of background info about all 3 generations. quite a few performance mods, and a few pointer as to what to look for...once again this is from Half.com prices range from 12-43 dollars, i recommend it if you wanna know more facts about the rx7. and get some ideas as to what to do to your car performance wise, it includes a "performance upgrade under budget" section, which covers cheap but effective modds to/and really expensive upgrades.

3)Mazda rx7: The first Generation, 1979-1985: Pamplet. This is from amazon, i don't use amazon so i don't know how the shipping works with them, cheapest price is 30 dollars...I have not read this however it seems to be quite interesting here's amazon's description .. "This is a guide for owners and potential owners of early Mazda RX7's (1979 through 1985). It has descriptions of each model, discusses what to look for when buying one, covers maintaining and modifying them, and what to expect as they get older."

Yes i know i'm a nerd but oh well lol. anyways hope some of you can find this information useful. if the links don't work let me know, i'll send you the links. 1) The Haynes manual doesn't even acknowledge the existance of A/C in a 1st gen, much less cover it. Plus, the entire manual was written for SA models. Anything FB specific is (breifly) mentioned in Chapter 13. Ominous sign......
I'll admit, a haynes manual is better than nothing, but barely.....
2) Sounds like good reading.
3) Sounds like a good research tool for those considering a purchase, and those who have recently purchased their 1st (or 1st in a long time) RX7.

i do have to agree about the lack of A/C mention. Eventhough i can't compare because this is the only manual i own, i do however find it very useful, and it does specify on the first page on ch. 13 that since there were very minor differences from the sa to the fb, that all the info in the first 12 chs. should be used for the FB models, and it also describes the changes that were made including the SE models and respective wiring diagrams...... i'm not saying it's the greatest out there, but it does give out a LOT of information, but it does leave simple stuff out such as A/C and the little window washer nozzle things haha.

Haynes manual is better than nothing, Mazda manual is worth its weight in gold.
