food...I've been driving Mazdas since '73, been around racing since '60.

Thru the best of times and the worst of times. Many of us are stretched to the limit these days....

But the is NO reason not to make Sevenstock the first priority in any Rotary fan's life.

You'll never come close to the feeling of finally fulfilling that desire that is burning in you...the one you can't put your finger on.

SS will be "your answer"

We came close to not having it this year...and there is NOTHING out there ready to take its place.

I don't care what you say...there is NO EXCUSE to not make the supreme effort to get to SoCal next year.

I have a best bud in Vegas, always making excuses for skipping Sevenstock. So I flew him in Sat am, John Wayne Airport is 5 minutes away, he flew out by 6 pm and was back at work by 8 pm dealing Blackjack. I said if it wasn't everything I built it up to be that I'd pay his expenses...that turned out to be no problem. It cost maybe 150 bucks for the geatest show on earth. I now stay at the Double Tree next door just to mingle with more rotarheads late into the night, and the banquet, etc.

I've slept in my car many, many times going to far away races, chasing my heroes...you won't be sorry.

He immediately set out to find another RX7 again, found a one owner '83 S that will be a great project, got himself historic plates with no smog requirements...the sky's the limit.

Not a mark on it...here's the first time out

If there's that certain something missing in your life...you'll find it at Sevenstock.

hmmm, i might try to find a way to get out there, my one friends dad whos an electrical engineer for the army defense flys out there alot, so i might try to snag a ride with him. and what date is SS? cuz maybe i will decide to take a cross country trip and haul the rx7 along or drive it. i will have to see if i can make, i wuld love too, and i know some guys around here who would also love to. the one guy has a 2nd gen gtus and his son/my friend would like to go, and the electrical engineer guy ( he owns a datsun 240z)

That's the bad thing about Sevenstock, it moves around a little bit depending on Mazda's racing calendar. This year it wasn't announced until almost May, but it usually happens at the end of September.

Look at the old archives, we've had some good sized caravans from all over the US.

Some more galleries here from years ago.

http://www.sevenstock.org/ (go to History)

It also almost didn't happen this year because of economy, since it is really an all volunteer club barbecue that has grown to 500+ cars and 5,000 people. Even if the club gave up I think there will be a group that would show up somewhere.

Mazda let us use the HQ lot 3 years ago because their R&D center held only 400 cars.

Since then a weekly event has sprung up there and on EVERY Saturday from 6-9 am 500+ sports, exotics, muscle cars and rods fill the place for coffee and donuts. it has become the biggest deal in SoCal in decades.

Check out Cars and Coffee. They are springing up in all major cities, thanks to Sevenstock.

Click on the big screen of the slideshow and enjoy...

That's great! The anticipation will build all year, many of your buddies will want to go and many will back out for weak reasons, at the last minute...don't let it bother you...it's their loss.

My advice.

Go it alone if you have to. I have driven cross country 11 times...it's always much better in an RX7 than a van, a Civic, a U-haul, etc.

Get in Friday early, a day or 2 earlier if you want to visit 3-4 shops. Stay at the Double Tree, 89.00 a night club rates, mingle and watch the others come from out of state. Texas is well repped, as is FLA, Vegas and northern Cal.

To me it's worth a 10 day road trip to CA, a big adventure for sure. But sure a 5 hour flight and a rental might be the best for your first time...by 9am you be saying over and over to yourself "I wish I had my car here".

Or get that cheap flight to John Wayne, use the hotel shuttle instead of a rental, stay with a local, just be there.

If you don't bring your car, you'll regret it all year though, IMHO

Figure out a budget, you got 9-10 months, stick to it, sacrifice for this will be honorable.

I left Ohio for good in '79 so I could drive, race, bike, boat, all year round. Even with all our blemishes California is the car scene capital of the world. (2/3 of ALL the world's Porsches are right here in Socal, I'd say the same goes for rotaries).

Move here if you get the fever.

I'll get off my soap box, now.

What he said above.... except for all the rotaries being in Cali... LOL take the extra days, hell the first time we took an extra week (course the kids wanted to go to disneyland....) the drive is worth it I try to do the caravans but when they stop the last day we continue on in a day early. I usually drop in on Mazdatrix and try to help them get their stuff ready and over to the show DAVE and ROBBIE are awesome people and have been nothing but kind to my family.

Our first trip, we took a J-spec 100% original mint 1976 Cosmo and drove it (with 2 kids ages 2 and 4) from San Antonio Texas, since then we have made 3 more trips 2 flying (work constraints) and one driving although we took a truck and trailer bringing back an R100 while driving an 8.

My favorite 7-Stock moment was after the banquet a couple years back. Some of the guys I know asked to see the pics of my shop and collection. I broke out my computer to show them and the next thing I know Koby is sitting next talking with me about my collection. This was the same year I was able to get Roger to sign the Door to his old car. For me it was the coolest time ever at 7-Stock, I hope that some one passes this info to Bern and all the So-Cal guys they give so much to do this and it means alot.
