Retiring the racecar....but it is being recreated as a real fun car!!
I have had a lot of fun with my first gen RX-7 for many years. The time has come for me to move to my next project.
Luckily the RX-7 will be reincarnated!!!
My Project Racecar RX-7 has really evolved over the years. The latest creation is a 330 HP turbo II engine.
Here are some pictures to "jog" your memory....
So I have wanted for years to have a super lightweight sportscar to put my complete RX-7 turbo drivetrain in.... It would be street legal, light, handle great, look cool and above all....haul ***!!!
Here is my inspiration..... A Caterham 7 which is a car based on a Lotus 7 sportscar...
Here is a picture of what I "inspire" to build....
Soooo... I bought a built chassis that came with the fiberglass parts, RX-7 rear axle, Miata front brakes, tilton race pedals, gages, and double wishbone suspension.
This car is my new project and has a LONG WAY TO GO!!! When it is done, it will weigh 1200 pounds with 330 HP of Turbo Mazda RX-7 power!!!!!
Here is the starting pictures of my project. Note the fiberglass parts are just "hanging" on the car, but this gives you an idea of the start of my project...
Her name is ROTUS 7!! A creation of a Lotus 7 and a rotary engine!!
I will start a thread in the future that will discuss the build in the 1st gen projects. I still feel it is a 1st gen at heart!!!
Also I will have LOTS of parts for sale including the body of the RX7. I will put these on the for sale section soon!!

It reminds me of one of the fastest car to go round the Top Gear test track.

Mine should be fun with about 100 more horsepower than the car on Top Gear!!!!

I rode in a 13b 6-Port Weber 45 powered handbuilt Lotus 7 this past weekend at an autocross. I have to say it was definitely the most fun car I have ever ridden in and the owner seems to love it to death. Best of luck to you with this build! It will most definitely be worth it!
