Quartz Digital Clock

On my 85 , I have the Quartz Digital Clock. The light works, it holds the correct time but the two dots between the numbers are always flashing. Is there a way to properly set the time so the dots stop flashing? It gives me that going to your grandparents VCR 12:00 flashing feeling.

There is only 3 buttons though. Reset/Hour/Minute. I've tried all combinations to try and get the dots to stop flashing. Anyone have a trick? I've pulled it apart too and all the solder joints look fantastic. Maybe in someone's owners manual?

I just checked my 84 'SE and the two dots between the numbers are also always flashing. I think it must be normal.

But thanks, now I probably won't be able to "unsee" those flashing dots.

Seems silly that it would be normal, but also not far fetched with Mazda haha. I don't recall my other 3 cars having this issue but that was also long ago and those times were "hazy" lol

Do you find it at all interesting that those "dots" flash in one second increments?

HOUR button - moves the Hour one increment at a time each push.

MINUTE button - moves the Minutes one increment each push.

RESET button - sets Minutes to :00 to make it easier to set if you're in he 1st half of the Hour, vs. going all the way around, so to speak.

Your digital clock is functioning as designed. There's no way to modify how it operates. Be glad that it's still working, and enjoy the mystique of a mid-80s car.

You know, i should have known that or realized that haha. I think the smoke from all the fires is getting to me, or the heat. One of those excuses!

Thanks guys!
