How did you crack an IRON manifold?
Here's what you need to do. Stop. Take a breath. Go to the top of the page and click on the search button. Type in whatever your looking for and then read through any of threads that come up that might look like they are remotely related to your search. Even if the title isn't what your looking for the info might be in the thread somewhere. After that go into the archives. One of the mods ( I don't know who) spent alot of their free time labeling each thread with what aspect of the car it pertains to so that it would be easier for you to find what your looking for. There are tons of threads in there and not one of them wouldn't be useful to someone, at some point.
Normally I wouldn't tell anyone to search, but your asking too many questions that would be easy to answer with a search. Also the junkyard is your friend to get this car up and running. If your mani is cracked, go get another stocker. You clearly don't have a ton of money to throw at this car, so work on making it safe and reliable, then deal with making it faster. If the manifold is cracked I can just imagine the shape the brakes, steering and suspension are in. Also go to the FAQ page and read EVERY thread. Twice. You will find alot of very useful info there. After you have exhausted all those options, then you can start threads to find your answers. You said you need to learn, and in places like this you learn by reading whats already here, then asking, not the other way around.
On another note, enough with the run on sentences. It makes you seem impatient and immature. Use proper punctuation and spelling. Before you click the "post" button reread what you've written and check for errors. I sometimes spend 10-15 minutes correcting errors I have missed because my own grammar is important to me. It's your only impression here, so make it good. You'd be surprised how difficult it is to figure out what someone is asking when it's 2-3 lines before a period comes up, if at all.
Good luck and I hope you get her running and on the road soon, but be patient and it will all come.

Have RX-7, will restore
iTrader: (91)
look bud, nothing for the RX-7 is cheap. if you try to cheap out on parts, the car will break and will ultimatly get run into the ground. if you can't afford to fix the car with decent parts then you will find yourself doing the same work over and over agian. why dont you post a want to buy ad in the 1st gen for sale/wanted section and buy a stock manifold and use it until you can afford a nice Racing Beat header. in my 10 years and 30 RX-7's later ownership, i have never seen a cast iron exhaust manifold crack. i've heard of thermal reactors failing on the SA's. most commonly, the exhaust leaks can be attributed to warped flanges on the converters or manifold. that or rotten pipes and bad gaskets.

well primarily i want cheap headers,I am just putting the finishing touches to get it running and air cared , but when i put the money into it in a few months thats when i kick out everything but the engine, and buy the Holly 390 with a fairly good supercharger . when that happens its gonna go from the amount I've put into it to about 50 to 60 G. And that's if i don't decide to do a swap and get her hooked up with the 20 B. But for now i am leaning for a supercharged 12a with the full set up. and as far as searching goes and a forum noob so i am not used to this set up .

You have a LOT to learn about these cars. A 20b swap runs AT MINIMUM 30k for a n/a setup, and 50k for a turbo setup. You will probably pop quite a few motors before you realize that a 390cfm Holley is MUCH too small for a supercharger setup. For a stock port n/a setup you use a Holley 465cfm carb. Do your research, read, and THEN post.
Oh, and I should have said this before, your posting style makes you sound like an idiot. You can't afford a RB or Rotary Shack SS header, you're not going to be able to afford much of anything. Grow up.

Well a 390 Holley would be fine on a stock or ported motor. In fact you would get better low end out of it than the 465 carb. Since your a long way away from any serious mods, go to www.sterlingmetalworks.com. Lots of very useful carb information there, and you'll need it too.
Expecting a value of $50-$60K is a little far fetched. There are numerous beautiful examples of SA's and FB's that took a ton of hard work and lots of trick parts and they wouldn't be valued that high. A Holley carb and supercharger isn't going to get you there. You must have some serious work planned, but unfortunatly if you can't buy a RB exhaust new, then your plans need to be re-evaluated, because you can't afford it. So far I've dumped about $9K CDN into mine, and it's hardly fast, but it's a very good all rounder. As Mazdaverx713b said, RX-7's and cheap don't belong in the same sentence, unless they are seperated by "are not". Don't take this as meaning the more you put into it, the more it will be worth. Parts just to maintain the car are pretty pricey, and that doesn't count for alot on resale, but modding a car will hardly net you what you put in to it when the car is sold.

Good luck. 50,000 dollar rx7 with pacesetters on it sexy!!!! Lots of nos like 5 bottles, with like 300 zoom-zoom stickers, and nos stickers, a formula one spoiler for some serious down forse
But on a more serious note. cast iron will crack pretty easy. Theres alot of ways that it can crack also. you see cast iron is a very brittle iron. if it gets too hot from running lean, we've all seen some glowing exaust manifolds, lets say you get your hose out and try too cool it down. crack. Just to weld the stuff you must preheat the metal, and then post heat to let it cool down slower. and sometimes it just cracks. So somehow his exaust got to hot, eather from running lean or someone welding it not knowing what there doing.

Not to defend the noob, but a 390 is fine for a supercharger. That is one of the carbs that camden recommends for a 12a. When air is being sucked thru the carb the CFM doesn't play as large of a role.

i figured 50 - 60k is a good generalized price for everything. although its not like its going to be ultra race car or anything. just want it with a supercharger and a little bit more guff than the avg BC ricer but not so powerful that i burn half my tank going to work and back

Well at least the fb's arn't rice ready, like the later models. I do love the fc's, and fd's. But the first gen is old school. even the wide bodys look good. It would be hard to see a riced out FB. I'd cry.....

@ the OP-You don't want an RX7. They require money and mechanical skills to make them go fast. You should find yourself a 90s civic, you'll have enough cheap rice parts for your car than you'll know what to do with and it will require alot less money to go fast.
