have you thought about going turbo instead of supercharger?, that'll solve your exhaust manifold needs too

Careful there Thunkrd. I'll drive down there just to put my big Canadian foot up your butt. The sun and beach would be a good excuse too.

yes , but i want a beefy sound as well so if i put that header on it . and ive heard the supercharger on a s3 is a little more powerful than the turbo's in the same price range as
long as its setup right. and i wanna convert it into a muscle car

You do realize that you're dealing with a 1.1l motor, and it'll NEVER be a "traditional" muscle car (i.e. it has torque...). You will NEVER get a "beefy" sound (i.e. V8) out of the motor, because of it's small displacement. The S3 motor is no different from the S2 motor, and the only difference between S1 and S2/S3 is points vs. electronic ignition.

Also, wtf are you talking about with a supercharger being more powerful than a turbo? That is not possible.

Power made is based off of a few different things.

First is the amount of air and fuel you place into the engine. For an apples to apples comparison, let's assume both are tuned exactly the same (same amount of fuel, measured in cc/min), and have the same amount of air that they ingest (measured in CFM).

Second is compression ratio. You're going to be running stock 12a rotors. *Maybe* scalloped and lightened, but their effective compression ratio will be exactly the same regardless of the application. No difference in compression ratio. Staying with me here?

Third is ignition. If you're going to be putting a forced induction setup on your car, you will probably want to upgrade your ignition. You could do 2g direct fire or a MSD w/ 6AL setup, but it'll more than likely be the same between the two setups. Still apples to apples, right?

Now we're onto the actual type of forced induction setup. A supercharger runs off of a belt. The belt is connected to the e-shaft. (Just making sure you know that.) The power that the supercharger runs off of is taken directly from the engine. i.e. it saps power, like a power steering pump, a/c pump, air pump, etc.

A turbo on the other hand uses waste heat from the exhaust, the exhaust flow, and the pressure differential across the hot side to compress the air. WASTE ENERGY. Energy that would otherwise flow through your exhaust and out into the atmosphere. Unless you can break the laws of physics and thermodynamics, a supercharger will NEVER make more power than a turbocharger, all else equal (flow rates, efficiencies, etc. etc. etc.).

Final serious question: is English your second language?

So. change of subject. I saw a picture of a pacesetter header on cl today. What a joke. Its fugly as hell, not that that maters, but theres no way thats same length!!! Don't buy that piece of crap. Just send me that money and I'll get some worth while mods.

Look around I just picked up a RB header for 50 bucks
