Pristine!

Just curious - who has the best example of an original first Gen out there? Lowest miles, original everything. Any takers?

I had a '79 day one car. It died...
I now have a '79 (80 production) with 82,000 miles...

It would be very hard to find a SA without a cracked dash, peeling paint and the like. Some of the stuff just doesn't hold up. And on that note... are there any quick opinions on interior restorative parts/treatments/procedures/etc?

my first thought would to to Mickster (Mike) and his 1980 LS that he bought new... but then there's Red95FD (Rick) who has an 88 10AE with 8K original miles..which is not a 1st gen but its worth being made mention of.

Tell me more about Micksters car... any photos?

Mine is a 1982 GSL with 38900 miles. Besides for the tinted windows and the Riken 15" wheels it is all original. The interior is perfect (leather) except for the top of the door panels (turned black from a short summer in TX). It is Tornado Silver and in great shape except for the top of the front bumper (my guess also from TX). I am the 4th owner and have owned if for 16 years.
Is the door panel problem and the front bumper typical? Does anyone repair the door panels?

Yo Fred O.

Welcome to the Club!

Tornado Silver is a fantastic first gen exterior color. Please post some pics of your low-mileage FB-eauty if you haven't already.

Appreciate the kudos fellas, but truly, anyone investing the time to browse through all 36 pages of pics currently in the Sticky: ** Post Pictures Of Your 1st Gens - PICS ONLY** thread can see that many clean/pristine first generation 7's have survived, are being cared for and enjoyed these days.

I ahven't had the pleasure of seeing Mickster's 80 in the flesh yet, but his 85 GS is an absolute showroom example of an FB. Pristine and gorgeous!

Indeed, both his cars are about the best examples of stock and original you can find, or at least that I've seen anyway....
I agree there are a bunch of really nice cars on here, but most (mind included) have been modded/resto-modded. It is nice to see a stock one every now and again
Mickster: just looked at the pics of your 85 again and is sooo makes me wanna re-paint my 83 S back to its original sunrise red.....

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-general-discussion-207/%2A%2A-post-pictures-your-1st-gens-pics-only%2A%2A-596488/page18/
there are also more on page 19

Mike, i vote for you to post pics in this thread

DivinDriver, you should also post pics of your 80, as its GORGEOUS!!! i don't have a 7 that would compare.. but for s+g, i'll post some pics of my 80 LS. then we'll just need someone with a brilliant black LS to post here and then we'll have all three colors in one thread!

Thanks muchly, for the compliments (I agree, of course ) but she's not all-original; the interior is customized as is the engine bay paint scheme.

Proud as hell of my girl, but she's not what she's not as much as she is what she is.

And I still wish I had another garage space; ever since you put your Solar Gold LS on the block, I've been having dangerous thoughts.

Like, divorce-inducing 'dangerous.'

I know the feeling... and we don't dare let them know what we're thinking when that ultimatum gets laid down, if even it's only for minute, right?

That's classic Glen. Thanks for the laughs fellas, especially on a Friday night after a long hard work week.

Thanks Dave for finding those historical posts. I ran out of time last night searching for my own historical posts of those pics and you saved me the extra effort. Much appreciated.

Well - I stumbled on this too late to throw a decent rant on Mickster's collection, but I think its been covered

Dave - glad to hear you might be able to hang on to your Goldie. Now - _really_ tick off the Better Half and use that Vette $$ to restore the LS!

Hey Dave! Just wanted to say your 10th Anniversary Turbo II RX-7 is a special car. I'll never forget the first time I drove one (my younger brothers). What a thrill! And of course you know I'm a sucker for white.

well Stu, with the LS being an original car, i hate to paint it.. i used the Vette money to pay on some credit cards that my wife had run up..and that are now cut up and cancelled. i enjoyed that C4 and raced with a Corvette team the last two years. it was a fun car:
