Price check Isle 7...
Hey guys,
I've got a small problem. lately I've been wanting to go to the dark side and get a 2nd gen. The problem I've got is that I currently have a great running Gsl-se that just needs a good paint job and a few minor interior parts, shes got 145k miles on her (checked compression cant remember the exact numbers but I know they were great) the only real problems with her is that she has a minor oil leak out of the oil pan gasket (but who doesn't...) and she wont idle until she runs for 2 minutes. No A/C or power steering.
The question I have is that I would really like to trade for a 88 gtx but I'm not sure if thats really a great deal... I wonder how much she's worth I've seen Gsl-se's run from anywhere around 500 to 6k.
P.S. I also have a set of louvers and a glass sunroof on her if that helps...
Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Here's my advice: Pull off the front valence and pop out that dent the best you can. It's the easiest piece on the car to get dents out of. Go over the car with a buffer and finish with clay. It'll still be brown, but if the clearcoat is still alive under that oxidation, it'll be shiny and brown! *insert polishing turd joke here* Put the glass moonroof in because the mismatched one looks bad. Sell the louvers in the SE for sale section. Next time you change the oil, replace the oil pan gasket after you drain. Really cheap and easy fix! Search the first gen section for SE idle issues and try to get that sorted out if you can.
When you say "no power steering," does that mean manual rack or that it was removed?
This car has one big thing going for it. The little "SE" on the badge. It's the nicest thing Mazda was willing to ship over here in '84-'85. It may not mean much to your average Craigslister who wants to trade you a broken dirt bike and PS3 games, but it means a lot to enthusiasts. Main reason is that it's the best contender for a turbo swap, which is the thing to do in the first gen world. So you'll get more out of it by selling it to someone with turbo plans. They probably won't care about idle issues, leaking oil pans, missing A/C and PS, and all that.
I'm with the other guys - just from what I've seen, you could fetch a grand pretty easily. More pics would help.
