Pics of the 2012 B3R Weekend
There is a longer post on this event in the regional section (https://www.rx7club.com/blue-ridge-r...-plan-1006664/) but since people showed up from all over the Eastern United States and the SA/FB turnout was very impressive, I thought I'd link in here on the 1st gen non-tech section for you West Coast folks.
We had a great time up in the Smokey Mountains this weekend. A large group caravaned into the mountains from the Atlanta area, others came from Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina and as far West as Alabama. Everybody converged on the little town of Cherokee up in the Smokies, set up camp on Saturday and proceeded to talk all thing rotary and generally have a good time until late into the evening. After a breakfast meeting Sunday morning down in Cherokee, we returned to the camp, packed up and headed out around noon time.
Mark (Kentetsu) won the Iron Butt Award, with his epic trip down from Michigan. Mark is still up at the campground this evening, planning to camp one more night before heading out tomorrow. I wonder if he heard Cherokee is getting 6 inches of snow tonight?
Here's the place:

Those sneaky mods!
Yeah Ray, I heard about the weather coming in while having breakfast. Decided to tough it out for the sheer experience of it all. Wake up every hour, reinflate leaky air matress, shake show off the roof of the tent, crawl back into sleeping bag and shiver to create warmth. Nothing to it! lol. Had a pretty good time overall.
It was really great seeing everyone. Sorry I turned in early Saturday night, but after two nights of sleeping on the lumpy ground, it was starting to catch up with me. I should've taken about a 6 hour nap that afternoon. And next time, don't be afraid to rev the engine next to my tent to wake me up for breakfast!
Well, now the fun is over and I have to get ready for hibernation again. See you guys in the Spring!

No snow in Michigan yet (at least, not in my part). Hit some snow in mid Ohio, but the streets stayed clear.
The car came through like a champ. Other than that nasty star-chip in the middle of the windshield that I picked up 100 miles into my trip, and overheating sitting in traffic after my e-fan wire came off, no problems at all. All I had to do was feed her gas, and she was happy to go anywhere.
Sunday afternoon I took the drive up to one of the overlooks (something-Dome I think it was). There were about a dozen decent cars getting linedup at the bottom of the ascent, looked like an organized club drive. They had a TII there, so they must have been okay. lol. But, they drove like Grandmas!
