Painted side moldings
Anyone ever paint their side moldings to match the car? I have seen FB's with front and rear bumper color matched but have yet to see one with the side moldings color matched... If you got one throw up a pic! Gonna paint my car soon and while im at it I might just shoot all the moldings the same color. Guess I could always paint them black if i wanted to later...

They are made of rubber and may not take the paint very well, you could get flaking after awhile. The bumpers are made of plastic and are meant to be painted so there's no problem there.
Also, even if you can get the paint to stick, it would look kind of tacky, like a cheap paint job, I would think.
Better to either:
1. Mask them off when you paint the car and keep them black.
2. Remove them altogether, then paint the car. If you don't want the black trim look, don't put them back on.
or 3. Go ahead and paint them if you don't really care what it will look like. Post up picks and let us know how long the paint lasts, I don't think anyone has done this before and posted the results.

it looks bad, imo. it looks like you were too lazy to pull the moldings off before you took it to earl schieb.
#2 is the best way, when you pull em off you can clean them up nicer, and you'll find all kinds of dirt and mould under them. 3m tape works to put them back on
pic of silver bullet reveals the horribleness of painted moldings. when I got it (car has been around), i painted the trim around the windows and pulled off the side moldings, it was WAY better.
oh yeah don't borrow a helmet after lunch.....

These moldings are pretty expensive and once you paint them they are pretty much ruined.

All advise is greatly appreciated. I actually just primed my entire car and bumpers with a white primer. I think I will end up leaving the side trims off and color matching the front and rear bumpers. If it looks bad I can always mask off and spray the trim on the bumpers black.
Oh and the car was stripped before priming(hatch glass, hinges, bumpers, etc). I have two sets of moldings and the one im thinking of experimenting on is in kinda bad shape anyways so I figured why not. I remember seeing another fb with white color matched bumpers but i dunno where i saw that pic... anyone got it?

I kinda like the painted look. I ended up painting the entire thing white and left the moldings off... It looks a little unusual though but it may be because im used to the black trim. Oh btw i need front right and left side marker assemblies if anyone has some
