Paint removing

I just bought my Rx7 (its a 1985 GSL-SE) and the person who owned it before painted all the chrome parts black, what would be the best way to remove it, without damaging the chrome? If someone could I would also like a couple pics showing the places that are chrome so I don't accidently remove paint from where its supposed to be. They did they're own painting so its peeling in some places so I know a couple places that are chromed. Any help would be appreciated.

I have used PolyStrippa Gel and a pressure washer before. It seemed to work the best for removing paint. Be sure you make sure it doesn't blow off onto anywhere you don't want stripped.

The only chrome is some chromed plastic interior trim on some 1st gens and some of the emblems maybe chromed plastic. There is no exterior chrome on 1st gen body work that I can think of. Unless your talking about the wheels maybe but they were usually polished and painted aluminum wheels.

What exactly do you think is chrome on your car? The window trim should be a satin black but when it gets old that wears off and sometimes peels and revealsl shiny stainless underneath. I think its stainless, could be an aluminum alloy not sure. Is what your seeing maybe?

That could be...because it is peeling and is shiny stuff under it...its my first car to so I don't know that much about rotaries and rx7s but I am learning slowly...so I won't use take of the paint on it...I'll try to put pics of the peeling paint so you could see.

The only chrome on 1st gens is plastic with a chrome coating, except for the shifter. Exterior window trim is polished, then painted stainless steel.

J-spec SAs had chrome license plate lights, but that's about it. US had chromed plastic shifter surround on the SA's, and armrest/door/dash trimline. Chrome shifter as mentioned. Chromed plastic emblems. Chromed lug bolt heads.

Yeah mine has the same peeling around the window trim. I'm debating as to whether to repaint it or polish it.

I was thinking about removing it and polishing it to see how it looks...because I think it might not look that bad, and is the drip guard skiny under the paint? cause if I am removing the paint I don't want to remove it from something that needs it.
