New SA .. has a little issue.

I picked up this beautiful 79 all original super clean car. has a bit of a backfire issue. when your driving and let off the gas but leave it in gear it will backfire, same if your revving it up a little. other then that the car starts, idles, and runs like a champ. any ideas?

!st thing to do is baseline all tuneup specs. Inspect points condition and replace as necessary. Set gap/dwell,ignition timing leading and trailing. Adjust mixture and idle speed.

How fresh is gas in tank?

Check exhaust for leaks-closely,even if you can't hear any noise. Air can get pulled in and cause afterburn in exhaust system. Ball up some old towels and place them over exhaust tips with engine running and have an assistant brim rpms up and listen for hissing at possible leak point.

Seats look great. I remember seeing one like this for sale in FL with low mileage (between 7-12k).

Beautiful Bronzie. You're sitting on Gold. Treat her well, she will make you some $$ one day.
Spend some elbow grease on getting that gawd-awful ziebart munge off the engine comp and it will be as blingy as the outside. Good news is what is underneath will (if it is like mine) look showroom-fresh! Enjoy-

Isn't this the one that was on FB from Maine? The owner was asking $6500 for it.

Yes this is the one that was listed in Maine. The black one in the picture is mine as well it is an 80 that I am not surer what I want do with yet. Its all original but was repainted and I swapped out the stock brown interior for a really nice stock black interior. I also have 79 from my profile pic that I am starting the restore on.. well presuming I can find a good dash that is.

Beautiful car, looks just like mine except I have a black interior. Hunt around the engine compartment and check for any hardened or split vacuum hoses. Your car will love you for it!
