GA New Here And New Project

Well Im new on to this site. I havent owned a rotory before but I always loved them. I have always been a mazda fan. I own a protege (1st gen)with familia (jdm) parts. Also I own a spicy mazdaspeed protege and now I justed picked this 80 rx7 for a whopping $250 from this guy in Covington.. I thought this was to good to be true but it was all legit.. This car has been parked since 94. So I seriously doubt this car will crank. So Im goin to do the mmo treatment to see it this is seized. Im looking foward to getting this bad boy running. Also forward to meeting so cool people here on this site.. Any help of any kind will be greatly appreciated.. Hopefully i get this car running for some summertime runs.. By the way I live in Columbus Ga.

Luis

I like it...

You'll be giving it a third life if you fix it up.

sweet car needs a bath though you might get lucky my son just gave his the treatment after it was sitting freed up the motor then some oil in the rotors for a couple of days because his apex seals were rusted in to their grove on the rotor now runs just great idles at 900 RPM smoth as glass no other work to the motor at all hope your just as lucky

very nice project that you've got there!! i would reccomend using atf over mmo. there are detergents in aft that will break down the carbon and will lubricate. imo, its just a bit better of a product when trying to free a seized engine.

Maybe but I dont think I will be that lucky.. Its crazy enough that I had found this ride and got it for only $250. If it turns over and runs I might as well play the lotto. I had gave it a bath the other weekend.. Looks alot better.. Goin to work on it tommorrow.. will keep everyone posted on the progress

not a big fan of the rims but i do believe some panasports rims will do the trick.. after she gets running i will go scoop some up and probably powdercoat them black or gunmetal to match the car.

Looks like a fun project and a great deal at that. If that mileage is real you got a fantastic deal but I suspect it has been turned over a time or two. Always good to see another Georgia 7, welcome to the club.

well people. I got a hell of a deal..i worked on it today.. Come to find out this ride has a 13b in i.. Since its my first rotory I didnt know where I can find the logo.. Came across it and its a 13b.. best thing its not siezed.. Got the engine to crank up after the atf treatment.. Put some gas thru the carb and it went..im stoked..i have to rebuild the carb but I think I will go with a 600 holley instead of rebuilding.. its got a 500 on it I believe..it may need a fuel pump and definitely needs the fuel lines replace.. cant wait to get it driveable..I will keep everyone updated on the progress.

actually she is pretty solid.. the door has to be replaced and a few spot here and there but nothing that serious..the body is in great shaped to be an 80.

Nice find. You should post some more pics now that you've had a chance to wash it.
