Question Need Info

I have a '78 or '79 RX-7 sitting in my back yard that I know very little about. It was left here about 5 years ago by one of my sons friends who was in the military. Since it needs a transmission installed he decided he did not want it and told us we could have it. Since my son has also left home and left the car to me I now am trying to gather info on it. It was last registered in Minnesota in 2000 however was originally bought in San Diego, CA.

I would like to find more out about this car such as what it is worth now and what it would be worth if restored. The body is exceptionally clean, the engine runs good, the interior needs considerable work, and it needs a tranny! Can anyone give me a rough idea of what I am looking at?

I usually find it helpful to look for similar cars on Ebay or elswhere and compare it to others that are in the same condition to get a rough idea, or you could also look at the classified here on this site. About restoring it, just realize its really up to your budget. All the above is just my opinion, Im sure there are others with more info.

check inside the driver door for the built date sticker, month and year the car was built. if it is early enough you might have a rare car.

if fully restored, not worth anywhere near the money you put into it. these are a money bin not a money maker..........for the most part

Is it the tranny of the clutch? If you can get the trans fixed and nothing else, depending on how bad the interior is, you can get at least 600, up to about 1500 max. Assuming body is very good and engine running well. You should take pics and post. You might find a home for her here! If you just want to sell it, put it on fleebay and set a reserve you are comfortable with. A good running low mile engine with good body even with a bad trans can get you a decent return potentially... Especially in So Cal...
