no you dont shave the R6's or the A6's. the way i figure i ran 34's on used tires before and have made some improvements in the car and have plans of lots of new driving things i wanna try on my end that should net more time gained. so i dont see why i cant still run some hot times. new tires would be nice tho for sure, but ill just have to step up my game another notch.

what brakes are those hiding in those wheels?

My slicks start loosing their stick after a hard weekend of driving. My dad runs the car in HPDE so we double stint the tires. Last event I ran practice, qualifing, and the race both Sat and Sunday plus one TTS session each day for points. The tires still had tread left but had been heat cylced so many times that there is no stick left. My dad had run six sessions that weekend as well, and did I mention it was 100 degrees at Willowsprings that weekend.

Nice to know your planning on stepping it up, even with old tires. I'm going to have 4 sets of brand new slicks and 1 set of rain tires. If I'm spending the money to head to nationals I might as well be prepared.

The front brakes were a kit I bought from sevensonly. They are approximately
11.7" rotors with 4 piston calipers. They are made by Outlaw, which I heard are similar to Willwood. Last event was my first with the brakes and they seem to work fine. It looks like they will still work with a 15" rim (will be real close to the caliper though). The kit came with larger spindles, bearings, and shock upright. It's nice because the bearings are stronger and I can put a better shock in the front because the housing is a larger diameter. Also the hubs are alluminum.

sounds like a pretty sweet brake setup. how thick are the rotors? hell thats a bigger rotor than im running! the stock fc rotors are like 11 or 11.25 i do believe.

thats basically two weekends worth of abuse so that seems pretty descent life out of the tires. this will be the second weekend on my set so they are still in some good rubber yet and im not runnin race group so they were all relatively short heat cycles anyways. but yea if your coming this far you gotta go all out! fortunately im only three hours away from mido so i can still swing it even tho im broke if i cut a few corners on the spending i.e. tires...... when you gotta head out to make it over here by i assume wednesday?

My grandparents (retired) offered to drive my rig to Ohio and back for me. I'm still paying for fuel, food, and hotels for them, but I don't have to take that much time off from work though. They left with the car on Saturday morning and are set to arrive on Tuesday evening. My flight gets into Columbus around 3:30 on Wednesday afternoon. I'm hoping to meet them at the track on Wednesday at
5pm.

Here are the final pictures before the car left for nationals. Notice I finally have my modified rear lower lip spoiler and back glass on.

Hopefully my car doesn't need much clean up after the drive. I'm thinking of paying for a dyno run on Wednesday if I have time. I'd like to know ahead of time what I'm making on their dyno.

I've heard some people say that the dyno usually reads high. Is that just because the people complaining about it were disqualified, or do you think it actually reads high? I have dyno results from a SAE corrected dynojet here in Socal, there shouldn't be that much difference between machines.

most likely just people complaining that got dq'd. i havent been on their dyno this year but have in past and it was close them. heard others from around here say it seemed comparable to others....as it should. last year when i got on it at the track it was only like 70 bucks for three baseline pulls so its nothing outrageous to just jump on it and double check!

Thanks,
I will have the car at sevenstock this year, assuming it's still in one piece after nationals. I bought the car in 1995 completely stock, somehow over the last 13 years it's become this.

It will probably be with Tripoint's setup. Any chance of you making it there?

It's a bit of a long drive for me for Sevenstock... and I am not sure if my car can handle that long of a drive.

One of these days, I will go out there for once... after I swap in a T2.

I completely understand. Your car looks setup well for autoX. Good luck on your T2 conversion.

I'm trying to stay nonturbo. It's just one more component that would fail while I'm abusing it in a race. If the car was driven on the street I would definitely consider a turbo though.

What autoX class does SCCA put you in?

He is in CSP, we run the car without the RB strut tower brace. After the T2 and rack and pinion swap, it will be in SM2. Good luck in the Nationals.

As Justin mentioned, I run in CSP with SCCA, after the T2 swap, I will be in SM2.

I am planning on doing some time attack as well later down the road, it's gonna be awhile since I want to run the 12a until it last. Maybe we will see each other on the track some day...

I am hoping I can get the cooling system done so the T2 can stay cool efficiently, that should eliminate the problem when I am abusing it.

They are CCW's, size 16x12's. My motor blew on the first day! I ran one race practice session and one Time Trial session. The motor blew on the second lap of the second race practice session.

I was just starting to learn the track so I hadn't hit the time I was after yet. I ran a 1:34.1 in my one in only time trial session. The car easily had another 2-3 seconds left. Danny Popp took 1st with a 1:31.2, I would have been real close to his time. Oh well
