Talking My run with a Lamborghini...

Ok, first of all, I know this should be in the kills section, but I wanted EVERYONE to see it first .

It all started when I was out in Woodinville picking up my ex from HS and I was heading towards the highway to head back to Lynnwood when what do I see? My dream car. A black Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary edition. I was in the wrong lane to get on the highway, so I changed lanes and turned onto the highway. After I got on right behind him, I went through second and threw it in third and pulled up close to him. I paced him in third as we blitzed over the double white and jumped out onto the highway. After a quick shift to fourth, he was slowly pulling away. I knew my rex was working hard, but the Lamborghini was just barely trying. After going down the highway with him around 80 in fourth for a couple miles, he got over into the exit lane to head south on 405, so I did too. I jumped over with him, and got right next to him. With a clear stretch of highway ahead of us, we both downshifted and took off. There I was, side by side with my dream car. A 1989 Lamboghini Countach. The sound of both our engines revving together was so amazing. I was getting goose bumps. I shifted from third at 80 and slid into 4th. As we both shifted, both of our cars straining to pull ahead, his engine had the advantage. Trying with all its worth, the Lamborghinis engine started to pull ahead. After about 100 he started pulling away more and more. I shut it down around 110 and saw no point to keep trying after he had quickly put two cars between us.

I knew I was gonna loose, and I knew he wasnt really trying that hard and just messing with me (but it sounded good), but I had to try it. After all, who would pass up an opportunity to race their dream car to see what its got? But DAMN was it cool .

~T.J.

PS - Im still kicking myself for taking the camera out of my car too. I was gonna have Stephani make a video for all of you (the whole thing lasted a good 15 minutes), but I had just taken it out last night to get some pics off of it . Oh well, some day I will get a video of another amazing car beating me .

With no insurance and a fist full of speeding tickets in your name? WTF? What happened to parking the car and laying low?

TJ, you're lucky man, it would like to run with some amazing cars like the countach.. Even if we don't have the power to follow them, it's pretty cool to see them running!

I knew you guys would yell, but I couldnt resist...Besides, all 6 of Woodinvilles cops were at the school so no one would speed there, as usuall. You litterly cant go anywhere within a block of that school without seeing a cop...

Anyway, I cant stop driving the car, I have no choice. None of my friends live in Lynnwood to drive me around. Plus, after the last ticket I got, I did stop speeding, this was a once in a lifetime type thing. I couldnt pass it up. Sorry if I disappointed you, but I am young and dumb. No more from now on, I SWEAR. Not until everything is cleared up .

Exactly why I did it.

~T.J.

PS - Run the numbers and were not to far off from that car in the low end...

0-60 on the lambo is 5 seconds
0-60 in my car is about 7-8

The lambo gets power above 5200 RPMs, so when he was running on the on-ramp and stuff, he might have actually been trying as I was barely sticking with him...But I WAS sticking with him. After we hit 4th though, it was all over for me. They just make too much power up there.

Seriously, seriously screwed if you got caught! I simply do not understand young people these days For shame...

With me, it was a Maserati... At the time I had an '82 GS and was running from Vacaville, CA to San Francisco. Coming from behind, I changed lanes to pass and saw the most gorgeous blond behind the wheel. We ran'em up to about 100, her with her hair blowing in the wind and all... and with a little smile she kicked it in the ***. It farted a quick puff of smoke and was, like, gone. That was twenty years ago. These are things you don't forget.

If it had been a Lambo... Wow! That's all I can say! My most favorite exotic also, T.J. I don't know, for some reason I think the Lambo was being kind to you - maybe just a little?

Dude, be careful. If you were fully insured, clean driving record, etc. I'd say good going, but as it is you're BEGGING them to take your car and slap you with fines you'll be paying off with your pension.

Get a Ford Festiva and deliver for Pizza the Hutt for a few months or something. Lay low, pay your bills, then come back with a stronger driving record and bank account. It's not nearly as fun, but it'll keep you from having to post another "oh crap I'm financially screwed" post.

beleive it or not I got to drive( and drive hard) a countach like that.

WORST ******* CAR EVER BUILT

I used to think they were cool. heres how it went down.

my freinds dad has a lambo (did actually, sold it got a lotus)
my friend had it on a trip up to brainerd, I convinced him to let me drive and I gave him the miata. (hows that trade)
first, i couldnt get out of the parking spot. for one I couldnt see ****, second the clutch pedel effort on those things requires a lance armstrong left leg ,third, gated shifter look cool but they suck *** for manuvering and finally, no power steering and 14x9 inch front tires sucks.

Okay, so were on the road now. This thing sounds AWSOME. and accelerates like no other I had driven.

BUT..

no AC and 4 in tall windows that only roll half way down = hot as hell inside.
crappy radio, and difficult brakes.

But its a lambo and I played it.

the local dairy queen was packed with kids and cool cars.

I roll up in this thing, VVVVVVVRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMM

pull though the drivethrough, up the the window, cute girl!!!

whoops, only a 4in window, gotta open that big *** gull wing door. saaawwweeeeet

pull into the lot and park, to make it look cool I told my girlfriend that we should open the doors at the same time. Well it didnt work that way but it still looked cool.

anyhoo, ate our food, felt like a bigshot for a hour and left in a huge cloud of tire smoke.

I drove one from a dealership back in '91.

Pedals way to the right to make room for the bigass wheel well to the left.

Seat to the left to make room for the bigass tranny to the right (yup, tranny comes into the car between driver & passenger - before building 'exotics' Lambo built tractors, and the idea of making stuff smaller was lost on them)

Head to the right to make room for the ludicrously steep tumblehome (the angle at which the side window deviates from vertical to meet the roof)

arms stretched out to reach steering wheel too far away, while pedals are too close (are Italian drivers gorilla-armed?)

Nice looking but overrated. Sort of like Pamela's namesake

EDIT: not to be picky, but gullwing doors are hinged from the middle of the roof (so when you look @ the car from the front the open doors look like raised seagull wings)

Lambos have scissor doors, not gullwings.

I don't know, something about that story makes me think you were racing a fiero that was converted to a lambo and not the real deal. " I shifted from third at 80 and slid into 4th. As we both shifted, both of our cars straining to pull ahead, his engine had the advantage. Trying with all its worth, the Lamborghinis engine started to pull ahead" to me that sounds like a V-6 fiero that you were racing not a 400+bhp lambo.

just my .02

It was artistic license...And if you notice at the bottom, I said that I knew it wasnt really trying that hard . I know just about any spec on that car, and I know there is no way I shouldve held with it at all. BTW, it had dealer plates on it, and a license plate from for park place limited, which is in bellevue that doesnt sell replicas other than Cobras . http://www.parkplaceltd.com
Actually, even the pic posted earlier looks like a Fiero. Real or not, it looks cheesy.
Good call DF. That is a replica that was posted. My uncle has one, and I was really into kit cars for a while, but that died off. I still have lots of pictures and info about them though, and I still plan to build one someday...

The lambo's look nice, but what was stated before they are a bear to drive...........and some of the earlier ones were not that fast......till you hit top end.
If it was a kit car fiero with a V6......a 12A would have whooped his ****........so if it was a kit, it had the caddy engine in it.
Its nice to run next to your dream car........unfortunately..........when I was your age........I got to run next to my dream car.............and beat it...............that gives you an odd feeling.

Hate to say it but that picture you showed is of a kit car. No doubt about it. First of all the NACA ducts on a Countach were functional. Second the intake behind the side window is wrong. Third none of the factory cars had strakes just in front of the wheel wells. And the wheels aren't right.

Would have been much better if it was a run in with the devil (Diablo) and not that piece of **** Countach. Next time..if there is one....have that video camera ready, dammit!

It could very well have been a kit car with the factory V6 in it. I had an '84 Fiero with the 4cyl, and that sucker was pretty peppy. My SE is definately faster, but I don't think it's out of the question that it was a kit with the stock (or maybe modded) V6. I would think (haven't ridden in one, mind you) that a REAL Lambo would be able to school a 12a, hard. I know you said he was probably toying with you, but he did take it to 110...that's not really the "toying" range anymore.

Regardless, have your fun...but getting caught at that speed here in NY would have put you behind bars. Take 'er easy...
