my new 55K 84 GSL (with pics)
i was driving by a used car lot today and discovered a silver FB sitting out front. i whipped around and pulled into the car lot. after some negotiation, i scored teh car for $1500. it was traded in by the original owner on a lincon LS. the car has 55K and the body is near flawless! the only mechanical imperfections are ac is non working, hatch struts are blown, and the clutch is toast. so, tonight i pulled the trans and prepped everything for the new clutch. the only thing stopping me is a bad pilot bearing. i have to figure some way of getting the thing out or buying the $150 puller from mazdatrix. the engine runs PERFECTLY. the car has power steering as its only option and has very few cosmetic imperfections. the wheels need refinished. however, i have a brand new set of oem X pattern wheels stamped 3/84 that were waiting for a car like this. here are some pics:
my plans are to keep the car 100% stock and perform all lacking maitenance. sorry for the small an narrow pics. my garage if full due to the remodeling of our kitchen.

thank you. i need to take the time and detail the interior and the engine bay. the car is filthy. soon she'll be back on the road and will shine beautifully inside and out. its too bad winter is fast approaching. i'd like a chance to drive the car a little bit before winter. i dont think i'll have much of a chance.

i got the new clutch installed and the transmision put back in yesterday before work. today i'm going to install the drivshaft, trans fluid, and bleed the sysytem, and install the new belts and fuel filter. i'll snap some pics during this process and post them up this evening. it'll be exciting to drive the car with a good clutch. my only experience driving the car was with a shot clutch, so this should be exciting!!!

I'm GREEN with envy! Neither of my 85s are that clean, and I got the GSL with 49k ($1700 4 years ago).
Keep the cloth seats: much more comfy than the leather seats (tho I've accumulated a pair of leathers for sale). The best seats are the 83 red cloth seats because they sit lower with one less adjuster.
That's a mighty fine car.

thank you both for the compliments! i am hoping to get out and finish putting the car back together tomorrow and clean it up. i bought the car off of the lot and it wasn't even close to being clean. i was wanting to post more pics but i'm kinda tired tonight as i spent the entire day with my wife car shopping for her. if there's any pics of the car that anyone wants to see, i'll go out there and shoot some pics and post them up.

the car was traded in on a lincon LS. the car was originally bought by a guy who drove it on the weekends in the summer and when his son was old enough to drive, gave the car to his son. his son hated the car and his dad decided to trade the car in on the lincon. not before his son ruined the clutch though.
i couldnt believe that the car was at a dealership either, lol. i drove by and had to have the car before some low life bought it and trashed it.

ok, the car is almost complete. i have to reinstall the exhaust and she'll be back on the road!! i was up until 5am today working on the car, reinstalling the trans and putting everything back together. i'll post more pics as soon as i can get the car out of the garage!!
to answer your question, zephyr07, i dont think the kid will regret selling the car, as he didnt know what he had. which makes it that much more special to me. i'm eager to drive the car.

here are a couple of pics i took tonight!!
i hope to finish drilling the broken studs in the exhaust manifold tomorrow evening and take it for a drive!!! the only time i have driven the car was home from the dealership with a slipping clutch that made the car near impossible to enjoy.
