Reminds me when I first got mine. It seemed to be the most amazing car for the first few months, and then I started to notice the inadequecies. $1500 later and I'm still chasings inadequecies, lol 
Keep the AC. If it works its definately worth keeping. Get rid of the autotragic though mang, you'll love the swap. BTW, I'm pretty sure all S3 non SEs have a single tip muffler. There's an 85 down the road from me I've been debating picking up and it has a single tip.

Im not entirely sure but as far as I know it should have double tips. My mechanic looked at it too and we noticed that the pipe had been swapped from the axle back. He called it a "midas job" basically saying its a random pipe that fit, not the mazda one
