My first FB

Hey guys. Its been a long time since I sold my FD, but its about time I get back into the rotary world. Just snatched up this clean '85 gs as soon as it hit CL. The car was rarely driven and then parked in a garage for ten years by the first owner. The guy before me purchased it a year ago from him and made some tasteful upgrade, some noteworthy ones being an RB full ss exhaust, OER carbs, and a genuine RE-A 3-piece spoiler. Its got 2000 miles on a fresh rebuild and street ported 12a that sounds awesome with the RB exhaust.

The rear suspension is Koni yellows and some king of race springs. The front is stock but I'm trying to figure out why its so low. Its to the point where its almost touching the fender when parked and it does rub on bad roads. I'm wondering if aftermarket springs would raise the front end up or would I have to get new dampers as well?

Here's a bad night pic I just took:

My god, look at those wheels. That's a nice *** FB. more pics please

It's possible the front springs are cut, or just worn. replacements may raise it a bit.

What size are those wheels? That might be an issue too.

The stance at the front is mean! Get some camber plates to solve your scrubbing issues? Love the wheels.

Thanks guys. Wheels are xxr 002 16x8, 4x100/4x114.3 with 0 offset. Tires are 195/40/16 S-Drives. Found out there are coilovers up front so I raised it about 3/4". There are also 15mm spacers all around that Ill be taking off this week. I dont like how much the back sticks out.

is the spacer a wheel adapter or do you have a gs that has the gslse suspension transplant?

nice L6 (ocean blue metallic) 85 GS! the red wheels and ocean blue paint do not go together imo. the muffler is a little hoaky being turned down but better that than melting the bumper i suppose. a full RB exhaust would have the matching muffler and that is not it. nice car either way.

Nice car. I like the wheels, but they would probably be nicer with black centers. They would better match the spoiler, mouldings, and the blue paint. I like your mudflaps, they look like they are made to fit the car.

I disagree....the wheels and paint mesh completely. The best thing about this car is that's it's not completely a cookie cutter car. Black with polished lips for rims are for ppl with no style. The car is litterly perfect as it is,exterior wise.

Took the car to Tri-Point today and then spoke with Robert at Rotary Shack who installed the carb.

Found out the hubs have adapters bolted on to accommodate the xxr wheels. They are about 1/2" thick and turn the stock 4 x 110 bolt pattern into a 4x100 I'm guessing. The exhaust is a custom header-back unit about 2 1/2" in diameter with a resonator in the middle. I was told it was an old school Racing Beat by the previous owner? The OER intake kit is a 45mm sidedraft race carb which explains why I get 10 miles to the gallon..Will post sound clips soon.

The mud flaps don't have a name on them but they do fit like oem. If there is enough interest I might look into replicating them.

Tomorrow I'm getting rotors and pads put on along with some adjustable Tokico Illuminas that I found dirt cheap. Can't wait to drive down the street without having to worry about any kind of imperfection in the road to swerve around.

Nope, I have a set of the Black Dragon ones and they are not the same.
The black dragon ones are made of ridgid abs and while they fit the contours of the body they are not as shapely as the ones on this car, if that makes sense.......

aaa gotcha. I didn't know that. I have a full set of factory mud flaps on my car.

BTW. I really like the car. I'm not huge on the red wheels but I like the wheel style.
