I think I'll keep them. It did kind of take the wind out my sails about wanting to do the SE suspension swap. I guess I'll just start watching for 84-85 GSL kit instead.

Funny that you say that because that is exactly the plan. Azenis are in my future. I do need to find a center cap to replace the missing one. That or try to find 4 SE center caps as I have read they fit.

If you're talking about the center caps from Mazda, i got 4 on the 79 SA i bought, just pay shipping and they're yours! At least they'll be in good use!

Just find a GSL rear end and keep those wheels, they look great! The GSL LSD differential is superior to the GSL-SE unit anyway, due to the number of driving & driven discs. Only downside is you don't get as many wheel choices, and you have smaller brakes.

Or you could do what I am in the middle of. GSL-SE suspension and axles with a GSL differential. Best of both worlds....

Ham: I'm fine with using the GSL stuff, but I want to do the front as well as the rear axle. I want the better bearings and the ability to use the Koni's from the rear of the 85-86 MR2 up front.

Warrior: I don't think the SA caps will fit these wheels. If they do, I could use the ones that are on the car now, so hold onto yours.

I'll add his ..... you can also swap a S2 GSL pumpkin into the S1 axle, one of my 78's is done like that so you can see drums brakes so it looks proper .... but on a hard launch two black lines left on the ground

No no no.... The drums must go away. I'll try to ignore the non vented disc on the GSL axle but I'd rather have those than the drums. That has been planned since the week I bought the car as is evidenced by the following pic.
