I don't know about comparing the two. There is no "best" for anyone.

Whatever makes you happy is the best car. I remember being a teen and wanting ANY car that moved.. I just wanted to cruise and go to the lake on my own with friends etc. They (others) all loose sight of the privlidge of owning a vehicle including rotary & v8 muscle.

And then when it comes to V8's they are a lot different. A Vette LT1, LS1, Camero SS, Mustang GT, etc all have fanatics and are each different and unique as the RX7's.

This thread, although old....is hilarious.

Believe it or not folks, when I first bought my 1985 GSL Rx7, about a year ago, it still had the original bridgestone Steel Belted 70 radials on it. And they *weren't* bald......

I could spin the tires welll into second gear with a tired carb, 20 year old gas and old, thik nasty oil. Oh and on hard high rpm (6500) I could chirp the tires in 3rd gear, and get 'em to squeal around a corner in fourth.

I installed BFG G- Force sport 205/50R 15 tires on 15x7 diamonds and now I cant spin them at all in anything other than first....

I think he was maybe exagerrating a bit, but if it was using those old tires, (which are horrible) I think he very well could have been losing traction.

However, I cant explain the innate quickness and beating of corvettes and mustangs......

I can spin through first and the very beginning of second if I shift quick enough. The most I can do is chirp third gear. Your not spinning 4th imo

I can spin most of the way through 1st on ice. j/k. I think the kid might be full of himself. He says early on that he's smoking one tire, then later says he slam gears and get it sideways. I know from my days without LSD, One Wheel Peel + Sideways = B.S. and lack of driving skill

Oops.....I think I revived a thread.......

Oh well, its interesting.....12a's are ballsy, but not that ballsy.

I think he said that his motor sounded like a weedeater in an earlier post.....my stock port sounds like a hot rodded lawn mower.....

My bridgeport sounds like a pissed off chainsaw.....

Is that thing really a stock port?

I have a 7" supercharger on a bridged 12a with some general grabber tires and I can just chirp 2nd gear with all that torque. Definatly not spin 2nd right through
I also am one legged and it doesnt make me any faster either

I guess I won't be installing that supercharger after all!

That clip is both funny and painful.

As for the tire spinning/chirping 1st, 2d, 3d? and (gulp) fourth , I just don't think even with old tires he'd get that with those modifications. As for beating the mustang and the vette, either he was really lucky, neither of his opponents were serious or he's hit on the perfect synergy between his engine and the limited modifications he mentioned to really boost his RWHP.
But, he's happy with his car and it's performance. Isn't that what we're all looking for?

this thread is pretty funny.

when i first got it, being younger and stupid i would try to spin them, and could never do it, unless it was raining I got an 85GSL, LSD, no rats nest, mech secondaries, i can do a peel-out, but it just catches traction so fast most of the time is just like "bark bark bark" bam traction i can squeel tires around a curve most of the time by either just droping a gear or going into the secondaries depending on gear/rpm... i could do a half-assed burn-out of a total of 3 secs on first gear and barked going into 2nd, i can do that with no problem if i raise the rpm up to 5.5k and i've only barked going into 3rd once but i was redlining the **** out of it..again younger and very stupid lol

i did beat a vette once it was a c-4, but and i will admit to it, it really didn't have a chance, it was a convertible, automatic...the worst of all...it was driven by a lady who was like 40, and 2 women near her age were riding........in my defense i guess they wanted a bit of an adrenaline rush cuz she'd pull up beside me on about a 45mph roll and step on her gas pedal trying to taunt me, they didn't look bad so i figured..."why not?" ...lol.... what else would you do when milfs try to play with you?

that's about the biggest engine car i've outran, besides big pick-ups ..(stupid rednecks) i realize how pathetic my post sounds .... but it feels good when i go into the secondaries and beat civics, and they accuse me of having a turbo, then i pop the hood, and rub on their face that my 1.1 just beat their ***...that's what its all about.
