I just recently got my newly acquired streetported gsl-se running right and swapped in a new clutch and nice street tires and decided to take it to the track. All I have here is the local 1/8th mile dragstrip so I wanted to see what it could do N/a before I tear it down this winter(t04s is in the mail). I let the car cool down for about 45minutes before staging up, did a small burnout to get the water off the tires(cant drive around the waterbox at this track for some reason). I stage up against a stock apearing GTO, I thoroughly expect to get raped. Set the tach to 3k and wait for the last yellow, the GTO jumped a length out of the hole, but to my surprise he didnt shake me, hit second and I am still right there one length back, hes not pulling on me(strange). I let the tach get to 8k and go for third only to hear 'POP'. Dont panic, just lost a ujoint or something, go to fourth for grins and I have a gear... definitely not a ujoint, go back to third at the turnaround and engine free revs. I popped third, I can hear peices of gear crunching up in the rest of the gears, fifth is the only one that doesnt sound like a coffee grinder. Pulled back over to spectator side of the track, a buddy of mine and my dad start laughing, "I knew you were going to miss third on the first pass". No dad, I didnt miss third, I f'ing owned third and made it my bitch. Long story short, I ran a 10.2 at 56mph with no third gear. 60ft was a 2.3 on the very first time launching this car.

Mods include:
no rear interior or spare tire
no a/c(including evap core,condenser,etc..), no p/s, no radio
streetport gsl-se 6port by Rotary Performance
Bonez street PP and Zoom 6puck kevlar disc on stock heavy flywheel
stock exh manifold w/ Bonez cat eliminator pipe and stock cat back
K&N airfilter
Tokico red springs/blue struts, stock sways and poly throughout
Stainless brake and clutch lines
205/50/15 Fuzion ZRI on konig 5stars

Needless to say, I would have liked to have actually seen what the car could do n/a at full tilt, pulling a 10.2 (with no third gear) is what my stock 87 turbo supra ran(w/ third gear!). Ohh well, winter is almost here, time to source a turbo II trans and drop in the turbo and fuel system.

If you were right with the goat, I would say you should be at least in the lower 9's. My 5.0 stang (5 speed, geared at the time) ran 9.4 in the 8th and I know a GTO was faster than that.

yeah, it was kinda coincidence that my old man was out there. He called me when I was leaving my apt for the track and asked what I was doing, I told him I was going out to Redline, he laughed. "Ive got my grill setup and a bottle of whiskey and a couple sodas when you get here." My Dad loves going out to the track recently, he just spectates and gets loaded off his cheap hootch then rambles drunken slurs about import cars.... Its a love hate relationship.
