Mazda3 beats out Corvette, Cayman, other exotics for 2013 Car of the Year

Mazda3 beats out Corvette Stingray, Porsche Cayman, other exotics on NYTimes Best Cars of 2013 lists:

SkyActiv, FTW! Now they just need to do a rotary-powered SkyActiv two seater to fill out the stable.

Right now I have too tiny cars. The RX and my daily driver Cooper S. I'm considering dumping my Cooper S for the new Mazda 3 for a little extra room.

I'm not sure what happened to that first link, but here's another attempt to link the whole article, which includes two independent car critics best of 2013 lists, with the Mazda3 topping out both of them.

These NYTimes critics aren't bought by the car companies and they judge the overall package, with an emphasis on design and performance.

The Mazda3 tops them all, pretty impressive for a $20,000 econobox.

The article is a good read and there are two slide shows of the two top ten lists that show a bunch of other decent cars:

That's pretty cool, good to see an underdog (but more than worthy one) take a win in a contest.

I don't think I'm going to trade in my Cayman S for a Mazda 3 anytime soon. That said, the Mazda 3 is still a nice car.

You should trade your Cayman S in for 2 Mazda 3s. Get one with a turbo and have more torque. That said, I like the way the Cayman looks and I guess there's something to be said for German engineering. Not sure what though, I had a vw rabbit and it sucked.hehe
