Don't be scared of your old nemeses! This thing is still a race car at heart.

unbelieveable! I just read all 13 pages. The gray looks sick with the black bbs rims. I was thinking about your problem with the gas cap not sitting flush. You should cut a piece of sheetmetal the width of the gas cap mounting bracket. Crimp the edges to create ridgity then rivet it to the gas cap hinge. Then drill holes to line it up to sit further out flush with the WB and use the oem 8mm bolts to affix the extension to the filler area. Sort of like an extension to the existing gas cap hinge. It will be plenty strong as the gas cap is not heavy at all...

Thanks!

I still don't have the car as I went to go pick it up but there were some paint defects that I was not happy with so I left the car there to correct those. I'm not trying to build a show car, but I'm still a little picky. The shope shut down for a few days for the summer and due to the excessive hot weather. I would like to get some races in this year, so I hope to get it soon.

Finally was tuned yesterday. To be honest, I was a little disapointed by the power numbers at 15psi as the actual peak hp only went up by 14hp at 367. Torque is 290.

However, after I'm finished being a dyno queeen, the graph tells a different story. Power comes on about 700 rpm sooner and torque is flat all the way through instead of peaking and dropping off like the T04.

I still have some issues with the paint and I will probably bring it somewhere else to get sprayed again. However, I need to work that out with Dave.

Here are some pictures on the dyno:

All business front. CF brake ducts:

$20 dash that I purchased on ebay takes away most of the ugly:

Videos to follow.

Some of the dyno runs.

There were some boost issues that had to be worked out so we did about 12 runs:

On this one, you can see the air being sucked into the turbo. Watch the nut on the strut tower work itself loose and think about getting sucked into the turbo:

Put a filter on for the final tune (and to keep nuts out of the engine). I was afraid that the filter would not flow enough air, but Dave reassured me that it would. I did lose a couple of horses with the filter, but not worth losing my turbo and engine.

Thanks guys!

I just want to get it home now. I'm tired of not having it. It really is too bad about the paint, but I was trying to go cheap on that. Sure, the paint looks fine for a track-car, but this car is also street driven and is not a true track car as so far I only do HPDE events.

Anyway, I got it a home-coming present today: the Rotary Works radiator. My current one works fine, but I'll probably change it out just to be safe since it does get hot here in Philly and I'm close to 400whp.

My car made the SAME power with and without the Filter (Blitz). It's definitely worth keeping it on.

I know! The only reason why there was no filter on it was because the filter I was using does not fit. As Dave was tuning, someone was trying to come up with a filter solution. I was trying to use my K&N whic I used to have on a curved pipe to pull air from beside the radiator and not directly behind it. Because of the limited space and and the size of the mouth of the turbo, we could not make that work and just went with the setup that you see.

There is always someone who must think "that car coming looks like it is going really fast, let me pull in front of it in my 4-cyl Camry and see how good his breaks are..."

They are comfortable--once you are in them. However, I would not recommend them for daily driving as getting in and out all the time could be a PITA.

I bought them at a Porsche speed shop that had every seat under the sun. I found the Kirkeys to be as (or almost as) comfortable as their best offerings. They come in a variety of sizes, so you have to sit in them before ordering. Mine are 17"s if I remember correctly. Since they are aluminum, they are not the lightest seats out there, but they never expire if you ever want to road race them.

NASA does require back braces on all seats so it is less painful to drill in the back of a $400 seat than it is a $4000 seat that will expire in a few years anyway. Overall, I'm pretty happy with them, but would not put them my only car/DD--maybe I'm just getting old.

I don't know how he was holding it as I was not even aware he was filming.

The gauges is just some black plastic that was cut out and screwed in. I hate the A-pillar gauge pods as I find it too "ricer".

TX Your wide body

I looked around for pictures and did not find/see any I could get to. I've got an '85 that I just ordered the front clip and rear fenders from Mariah so I always am looking for other cars and threads to get information and ideas on. Send any pics or other info you have if your still following anything.

Wow, I haven't posted here since last August and happend to see my thread bumped to the top.

Philly winter is not good for these cars (especially since I ripped the heater out in a rage one day) and my car is scary to drive in the wet and impossible to drive in any snow/ice.

In addition, this fall I suddenly lost power (but my car was idling just fine). I tried a variety of things including short of a real compression test: new plugs, new gas, checking timing, checking the turbo, etc. Could not pinpoint it so I brought it back to Dave.

Dave troubleshoot it and ended up pulling the newly rebuilt engine as I had lost compression on one of the rotors. Ended up that the agressive porting that was done to the motor before I owned it ended up catching the corner of a seal . So, getting that plate changed out and the engine put back together.

I need to get to the track this year as I missed the entire year last year do to the bodywork taking so long and my schedule being very busy.

PhillyRX, we should get together sometime, maybe make an autocross or a SCCA/NASA event.
