Mac Strut Installation Issues

The book says all I have to do is attach the bottom of the mac strut to the knuckle arm and swing it up into place. But, the top of the strut hits the outside of the strut tower. What am I doing wrong? Stock springs , Koni inserts.

I always put the complete strut assembly up into place in the fenderwell and start all 4 nuts in upper bearing mount and let strut hang while attaching everything to the bottom of housing, always seemed easier to me.

Sounds like "the book" was written by someone who never worked on a car.

Yes, and a long pry bar pushes down on the LCA. An aid to push the LCA down while you work the strut helps a lot.

Herb, recommend that unless you plan to go rallying, you dial in the Konis to the softest setting. Pretty firm shock! Pretty sure the fronts are adjustable IIRC?

Finally got it in. Did everything in reverse order. Attached top of strut first. Then the strut to the knuckle arm, then the knuckle arm to the cross member. What a pain.

Not a pain, a "hobby"
