lost apex seal ? now what ?
lost apex seal ? now what ?
it sounds like a choo choo train, lost power....just like before when it lost an apex seal? 20 years and 40,000 miles was on the atkins rebuilt.
what are my options? rebuilt fb 12a's are extinct.
I hate dropping $$$ on a contemporary car that is designed to fail in 2 years, and that I don't know how to fix everything on it.
my state doesn't do vehicle inspections.

There are plenty of people that can build 12As, myself being one, however most people don't want to pay for the unfortunate cost of housings and other parts for their 1st gen. Hence the 40k mile engines needing to be rebuilt versus the factory 12As that can last 150k+ at times.
I pulled all the plugs and did the open throttle turnover test.
Last time it as a apex seal it there were 5 even swooshes with one unever one.
This time, it was 6 even swooshes. Crossing fingers. Now I have to recharge W world's never start battery. Hello 5 hours!!

Glad you were able to dodge the bullet of losing an engine. I was thinking when I read your post that 40k miles is awful soon to lose a 12A, especially an Atkins built 12A. Good work!
