Info on JDM 12A Turbo wheels?

Pics courtesy:

Craig's Rotary Page: Mazda 12A Turbo engine

I've searched the site and can't find specs on these wheels. I like them a lot. They look like 14-inchers. Do they ever pop up for sale?

the white ones? we got that style of wheel on the 82-87 626's.

they are a 15x6 40 offset, same bolt pattern as the GSL-SE

actually those wheels aren't stock in japan, its not in the parts catalog...

Interesting. I always thought those were the stockers. What wheels came on the car from the factory, then? The -SE wheels?

Neat that they're 15-inchers, too.

i was thinking about making a separate thread for this, but we've recently found the JDM parts catalog, and it only does the 84-85 models (9/83 production to the end)

the Japanese have similar models to us, but different names, GT-J, GT, GT-X, GT-Limited. there were two engine choices, the 12A with 6 ports, or the 12A turbo. you could get either engine with any of the models. the 12A turbo engine comes with the GSL-SE suspension/brakes, and the 12A 6 port, uses the 12A suspension/brakes.

for wheels, the GT-limited, which is similar to our GSL/GSL-SE comes with alloys. in fact it comes with the same + wheels, or GSL-SE wheels depending on the engine choice.

everything else came with steel wheels, which is probably why aftermarket wheels are so much more popular there.

I think I got it. I can't imagine being a new car shopper in Japan in the '80s and '90s... So many trim lines, options and even different brands made by the same manufacturer.

Thanks for the info.

BTW, I did a quick eBay search for those 626 wheels; they're tough to track down... Not that I'm buying, but I would like to get a sense of how rare they are.

those 626 wheels might be really hard to find, people keep Rx7 stuff, but not 626 stuff... pic is the page from the JDM catalog, or is it catalouge?

Very true. Here's one:

1983 1984 1985 1986 1987 Mazda 626 15x6" Wheel Rim 64639 | eBay

Seems a full set is harder to come by.
