I CNC'd a Mazda Logo
In my computer-aided manufacturing class, we've been learning to write CNC programs, and for the end-of-semester project we had to make a certain block with certain features, but we were allowed to engrave whatever we wanted on top. So I made an old-school Mazda logo.
Unfortunately, we're not given access to those machines on a regular basis, so I can't make more. The entire block is 2.8" wide and 0.7" tall. The logo was milled with a 45 degree chamfer and is 0.010" deep. It took the machine about 30 seconds to mill the whole design. I love technology.
The material is a high-density wax that machines similar to aluminum, but the school melts down chips and other exercises to reuse it.
Thought some of you rotorheads might like to see this.
