Just break your headlights. Only other way is to pull the fusible link and manually crank them halfway. Pretty pointless though

waste of time with the stock sealed beam lights. the stock lights dont' put out enough light for night driving when fully open, let alone half open. if you want lights that open halfway and some that will give you enough light so you don't kill yourself/others, convert to a dual Hella H4 setup with the small rectangular lights in place of the stock round sealed beams. then it'll be safe to only put your headlights halfway up.

I think he is talkin bout the sleepy eye conversion so that they are half way up when they are off and open all the way up when you turn them on.

I just cut the power wire (red) from the headlight switch by the shifter and wired a push button between it. One of the australlian sites has a good write up on it.

I am glad I wasn't the only one who was having a hard time understanding him.

And like everyone else has said, don't do the sleepy eye look. Its a waste. Headlights are an integral part of night time driving. Decreasing the functionality of the lights by half is an absolutely horrible idea, especially when the stock light barely puts out enough as is.:

seems like everyone here is missing the question...He's asking if there is kit, or some trick to make the headlights chill half way, and then pop up full status when he needs them too...

I say sleepy eye's FTFW!!!

If he can find a kit that enables full functionality of the headlights while maintaining a half-risen status, then more power to him. I have never cared to look for one, so I am of no use. If he is looking to use stock components to get the effects of a sleepy eye, he is defeating the purpose of headlights. That is all the more I was referring to.

Well, you can also use sleepy eyes during the day...when headlights aren't really necessary. And then can fully extend them when they are necessary for night driving.

Get a PIVOT RHU-M

Go to your local speed shop and ask for a "Pivot RHU-M", retractable half unit. Hooks up with 4 wires. It allows you to adjust the angle of the headlight flaps anywhere from closed to 80% open. It has a built-in safety feature that opens the flaps full when the usual headlight switch is activated. Wiring diagram is simple pictures, but is in japanese.I can read it if you want help. I had this installed on mine and it worked perfect.

I have it installed on my RX7 from a previous owner.

I never use it because it looks gay but eh...

Mine is wired so that the factory switch you use to flip your lights up without turning them on (near the gear shift of US spec cars?) has been set so that it's now a pulse switch.

You tap the "UP" part of the switch a little bit, and the lights come up a little bit and stay there. Tap it again, they come up a little more.

You hold your finger on the "UP" part of the switch and they go all the way up as per normal.

The opposite thing happens when you press the "DOWN" part of the switch.

So you can press the switch "up" and "down" all you want to **** around and set the lights at whatever height you want.

Still looks gay though

You use the normal switch on your steering stalk to turn the lights Up,Down, On or Off as per normal driving...

So if your gonna do it, thats probably the best way to have it set up.

Cam...

If you install sleepy eyes, you have to glue EL wires around all your body panel seams, too.

It's some kind of law, I heard...
