Hey Everyone!!
Just wanted to say hello! To all the other Mazda guys out there.
Obviously i'm new here, though I'm not new to mazda's.
I currently own an MX-3 that i'm working on, when all of a sudden my dad comes home with a FREE 1st gen RX-7. He says it's the 5spd and is turboed, but i question if it is turbo (you guys would know that though hehe).
Well just saying hello. I may not be here too much but i'll be by every so often to see what's up.
I'm going to read the FAQ's real quick and then get back to ya with any ?'s.
oh, and supposedly the RX-7 runs fine, it just needs a new carburetor, and only has 1 small rust spot. Also only has approx. 80,000 miles on it!!!

No pics yet (sorry guys).. I'm going monday to get the car towed to my house to start work on it.
Speaking of which, what would be your suggestions on the carburetor? I need a new one, and i'm just curious as to what you all performance-wise to it.
Thanks again!!!

Sterling FTW if you're not ported. I guess he's testing a version of his carb for ported engines, too. Weber/Dellorto are pretty sweet two-barrels, and is what I'll be going with. Edelbrocks are a good budget solution that will run alright off the shelf, but they sometimes suffer from fuel-slosh issues.

That engine bay looks very similar to my GSL's when I first got it. It should clean up well.
Actually, I'm thinking '83. It has the S2-style front fascia and cowl, but with a beehive oil cooler.

Guy said it was an '83, so I guess he may be right on that one hehe.
It seems I got a good car, and haha you guys are making me all excited.
I didn't get any interior pics but he said it's solid and no problems. The door was cracked open when we found it so there may be water damage, but i'm not sure... me and my dad are getting the car this friday, so i'll post more pics then

^^^He's right. The sunroof was a dealer option on the S models. But it is possible for it to be a GS with steelies due to alloys being bent/damaged/destroyed. Although it wouldn't have any model badges on the back regardless as that was on the S3's only. Only S2's got a GSL badge on the b-pillars(aside from Limited models) and even that is sporatic
