Has anyone replaced their carpet?
Hey guys, just curious if anyone has replaced their carpet and what company/kind they decided to go wtih? There are many out there and half of them have reviews saying their molds were incorrect. As carpet is not cheap I didn't want to throw away the cash without asking here first.
Also (as I am also a jeep owner and a HUGE advocate of monster lining the interior) has anyone ever used some kind of alternative to carpet? I have seen vinyl molds for flooring as well and am very curious what they look like inside the car.
As always, thanks for the input!

If they still sell them, I bought a set from MAzdatrix. I doubt they actually MADE them. Form-fit tho you need to cut the bolt and tranny holes, which is not unusual. Blackdragonauto also sells them.
Don't know what Monster lining is, but vinyl would seem to look a bit, well, low-budget in a sports car, esp the high-trim LIMITED version you have. Each to his own of course...

For the rear hatch carpet, which is usually the first to go, I bought a 4 x 6 carpet at walmart that was a very close match to my red maroon interior, except that the pile is thicker in the walmart carpet than it is on the original. Since the whole thing is flat it's a relatively simple matter to use the old carpet as a pattern to cut the walmart carpet to fit.
For the floor carpets, you can often find used units in pretty good shape that being original will be a perfect fit (I may have something in maroon if that's what you're looking for).
PS, I also have a jeep, 93 wrangler, my wife's actually but I do all the work. Plastic monster linings are fine for a jeep but I wouldn't recommend them for a first gen RX-7, it might offend the Rotary Gods.

Thanks for the resources! I'm definitely going to throw black carpet back in there. I just didnt know if anyone had tried anything different in the past. I have always loved bare painted interiors in particular builds.
As far as the Jeep is concerned, "mine" is more like my fiance's as well haha, if only the payment was too!
Thanks for the tip on the hatch carpet as well! I will definitely look into that!

I went with a good used carpet bought off here. The quality of the aftermarket just didn't meet the original. All the aftermarket ones I've seen look basically like the hatch carpet in terms of quality.
