had a little fun today..
i went to the inlaws place where i just so happen to keep a few of my cars and i decided to have a little fun, take some pics of my cars, and continue parting out that old 88 SE. i drove the RX-8 up there and got my 63 Falcon out and took it for a drive, moved my repair in progress ocean blue 85 GS to the repair portion of the garage and had some fun dragging out the SE and turning it over on its side and pulling off everything underneath. all i have left to dismantle after tonight is the front suspension and the dash and front carpet section. anyways, here are the pics:

What's that reddish-brown stuff growing all over the bottom of that car? I never see that around here...
'63 Falcon! I had a large-scale slot car of one of those when I was a knee-biter... fastest car on the local circuit for one summer. Same color, too. She's in sweet shape!

That a way Dave - right to the redline and 90+! Zoom-Zoom-Zoom! Sounds sweet!
Beautiful country!
Good to see your '63 Falcon. Mind sharing the story behind that in your collection?

Mike, i will share my grandfather gave me the car shortly before his passing in 1998. i was 16 and crushed when he died. he was like a father to me so you can imagine the sentimental value this car has to me. before he died, my grandfather took me out and sat me in the car and showed me how to use the "three on the tree". he sat next to me in the car and made sure i got it right. he told me that he would buy me any car i wanted when i graduated high school (within reason of course). he got sick and because he wanted me to have that car he promised, he offered me any car in his driveway. one of which included a 56 chevy 2 door with a 265 V8. i chose the Falcon because it meant so much to me.. it was the last thing about cars he was able to teach me. i want to feel that he respected the decision i had made with the Falcon. i sold the Falcon shortly after high school and regretted the decision ever so much. i sold it to an old timer that restored cars as a hobby..with one condition...he offer me the car first if ever he were to sell it. he called in 2006 and in 2007, i purchased the car back..for a lot more than i sodl it to him for..but i cant complain because he restored the body, rebuilt the trans, installed new tires, and body seals, and rebuilt the carb and brakes. i've taken it further by painting the engine bay and installing the decal set in the engine bay and around the body. i'll get more pics of it. for now, here's a thread with more pics:

I appreciate your character as much as your story Dave. Well done! Through the cars we own we meet so many special people. I have come to appreciate the car guys even more than the cars. Out here in Huntington Beach we have a large collection of such guys that come together every Saturday morning. It's become one of the best and biggest collection of classic (primarily American) cars in the country. They call themselves the Donut Derelicts.
Their website has a funny YouTube video that tells all about them. Your Grandfather's Falcon would get a lot of attention and appreciation.

thaks Mike, i really appreciate that i would love to attend one of your get-togethers some time. perhaps one year as the kids get older and the wife gets more laid back.
Stu, as far as the Falcon goes, i really don't know any history on the car. that died with my grandpa. i'm not sure my dad even knows. all i have is the story that i shared with you guys...

thanks Rick. my grandfather was a great man. that Falcon is a neat car..sadly though i noticed last week some seepage between the head and block..and after a compression test, #4 is below spec and the rest of the cylinders are close to their lowest spec.. i guess 99K miles and perhaps an average build quality and 46 years of driving can do that. when people say "they just don't build em like they used to", i often question that saying. sure, the older cars are a bit tougher in accidents and the metal is sure a lot thicker, but there are areas where newer cars far accel past that of the old..and thats just technology, evolution, and the way of the world i guess
