Get My RX7 into the budget drag racing class

How hard would it be to make my RX7 (1981) Runs in the 8.00's in the 1/8? This is the budget class so we have to run a street DOT tire.

Is it even possible without turbo?

Sure, with a V8. Kind of unlikely with a rotary, especially on any kind of "budget."

Had a feeling it would take a v8. I have a 383 that used to be in my Vega and a TH350 transmission already.
