Fuel efficent Rx-7.

[

This is a 1981 mazda rx7 that has been converted to electric. It is not finished yet but everything is in the car, including good batteries. It has a 120v motor that runs off of 15 8v batteries. The charger is already wired in and all of the battieries are wired in series and the motor just needs to be hooked up. I ran out of time on this project, It can plug into a normal wall outlet and should be able to go about 60 miles on a charge.

This car is completly electric, NO Gas

Ad from Craigslist.

Much sexier than a Toyota Prius, and given the premium that hybrid is getting at dealerships, maybe I should buy it... WRONG!

Do like the paint job though!

You know, I've thought about doing this. I dunno if I'd want to do it to a 7, though.

I got a local guy that does this kinda work and I have been thinking about seeing what he whould charge to do it but 60 miles might not get me back and forth to work.

Kind of thin on specifics... I'm betting that the battery weight's a bit high.

8-volt batteries? That's an odd cell voltage. Wouldn't ten 12V batteries make more sense for a 120V pile?

Can we see photos of the motor and batteries? What did this conversion cost you?
First gen is a good electric vehicle platform. Nice and light.
