Aaaaand the chance is gone. Here's what I just posted on Jalopnik, but censored for this board.
The first-gen RX7 finally had an opportunity to make it into a mainstream videogame in the common era (GT2 is old-school now), and you guys dropped the ball.
Were all of the cars that made it through to the final round really more worthy? What about that '92 240SX? Or a Ford ****ing Probe?
A Probe. Think about what you've done. You fools promoted a ****ing Probe over a car with serious motorsports cred and history. When the RX7 first came to our shores, it changed the game for Mazda. It moved them from a car manufacturer, to a sports car manufacturer, and arguably paved the way for the Miata era and Mazdaspeed as we know it. The car made so much possible that you all know and love, and this is how you repay it? By telling it you value a '97 ****ing Probe or a '92 240SX over something the SCCA deems worth of its own spec class. Yet you miscreants don't think it's worthy of a video game appearance.
I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. I though you guys were better than this. You can give a man a Hyundai, but you can't give Forza an FB33. ****. I need a beer. I don't care if it's not even noon yet, this is your fault. Go think about what you've done.

I understand that, I just appreciate that this forum (or at least this section) isn't as profanity-riddled as some out there, and I wanted to kind of preserve that. Beside, the F-bomb was all I used in that tirade.
I agree with you on the RX7 not getting in as well. The ford probe was made as a replacement to the mustang. Only redeeming quality on the Probe was the KL-ZE.
The only modified Probe I've seen in person was painted in bass boat paint and vomited coolant all over the track. The owner proceeded to rent one of our Spec Miatas, and successfully delaminated the clutch and overheated the flywheel by slipping the clutch around the entire 2.9 mile road course for the 25-minute session. I think that speaks volumes about the car right there.

Basically what happened is a bunch of ricy rice boys voting for rice. Also a bunch of people who haven't played the game voting for cars that are pretty much already in the game.
Really really sad. Lots of cool cars in that poll, most of them lost out to generic crap that the game is already overflowing with.
At least the BMW 2002 will probably make it in. Another awesome classic that's frequently omitted from racing games.
I wouldn't diss the Probe, though. The Mazda KLDE versions are pretty decent when properly and tastefully sorted. I own an MX-3 GS and I'd rather have that in the game, but I'd settle for a Probe.
