First Drive: 1978 Mazda RX-7 (Motor Trend)

Hey guys, I've never been in this part of the forum before (I have a '91 RX-7), but I though you guys might enjoy this:

First Drive: 1978 Mazda RX-7
http://www.motortrend.com/classic/ro...rx7/index.html

also note:

Editor's Note: This year, Mazda celebrates its 90th anniversary and along with an extensive retrospective coming on May 20, we've gone through the archives to bring you a look at several classic Mazdas from the 70s and 80s.

So that should be interesting.

Yo ultrataco - appreciate the link to this article and the heads-up on forthcoming attention to Mazda's 90th anniversary.

We were able to indicate 130 mph on the test run and believe the speedometer was pretty close to accurate, as the high lane at this speed was not exactly hands-off but the car was very manageable.

Wow, that was pretty fast. My car can't do that.

I had my -7 up in the 130's a couple times back when in the 90's. But I was younger and dumber back then. Unmodded first-gens get quite scarily floaty in the front, much above 100.

Nice find.

I think MT is scanning their old issues because I think I'm seeing OCR mis-readings. And I spent a couple minutes trying to find what a Weber DCLE carb is.
