first day of interior removal

the car has been there for about 7 years so i had an idea that i was going to
find some rust.
it was a condo complex for chipmunks and mice so the carpets are the first
job. I'm not sure at all how to weld so my question is.
how bad is this?

For someone that is decent at metal working, it shouldn't be too bad. Looks like some structure is involved aside from the floorboards themselves. Pics from underneath?

Good thing about welding is you learn by welding. Go get scrap metal and google 60-10 whips and 70-18 beads and you'll figure it out in a few weeks. Course I went to a welding class. Pretty much was the same thing I just said to do. Repitition is key.

Agreed. When I was 15 my grandpa put me in front a pile of scrap, rolled the welder over to me, and told me to go to town. A few hours later I was laying down some nice beads. Mind you, there is alot more to welding than just pulling the trigger on a mig gun, but for someone doing some light welding of mild steel for rust repair, it can definitely be a "diy" job.

I went in 50/50 with my dad on a miller-matic mig with a cart and a bottle about 15 years ago for less than $300 each and that thing is still going like new. They can be had on craigslist pretty reasonably, just stick with an established brand. Don't go with flux core crap, its super messy. I've built up a pretty good collection of harbor freight tools in my garage, but don't get a welder there, they suck (I have one of those too). MIG is going to be the easiest to teach yourself. Do some reading first then start playing. Once you have a welder, you'll wonder how you got along without one.

Good luck!

My vote earns 7018 smaw but everyone's opinions are different. I weld right to left so that says something about how diverse welding is.
