Fender flares FB/SA Factory/Dealer option?
Fender flares FB/SA Factory/Dealer option?
Hello everybody,
When I bought my 7 a few years ago, it came with some stainless steel fender flares. Every year I take them off and clean up underneath, this time I remembered to get pics of the part #, which isn't going to be very helpful.
Maybe someone here who has seen it all can give me some history on these. They look like a dealership addon, maybe an aftermarket from a company. Their is no part# or anything scribed or pressed into the flares. They have a soft rubber edge that is held on by adhesive, and they attach on the bottomside with bolts N nuts drilled into the lip on the wheel well.
Here are pics:

I don't know where they came from those are some of the best looking flares I've seen. Looks like a dedicated flare for these cars works much better than modified Datsun Z car flares. I wish those were still in production! Just a little drilling and stick-on application and you're done, no cutting the body! My guess is that company with the "(A)" logo made them.

The "A" looks a lot like a drafting compass.
"77-85" tells me that they were made in 85 or later... since nobody would have known ahead of time when the first-gen production run would end.

Good deductive reasoning Glen.

I've seen these on numerous first gens over the years. They are on ebay every once in a blue moon.

I will consider it. From their construction 'bends' they look like precut long ovals partially pressed, but most likely rolled out then touchup bent. I might be able to make a pattern out of cloth.
they look nice but are definatly not an oem part. as Glen pointed out, forethough here is a big point as the application dates do not refelct a dealer installed part. have you considered painting them the color of the car?
While browsing the internet for flares to compare too, all I could find that resembled the flares I have, are the ones shown here: http://www.speedycarparts.com/sku/Ma...=23-46709993-2
Has anyone ever used the flares from QMI?
The description reads very similar to the description of the flares I have.
