FC owner finally gets an FB (picture intensive)
And it's an '84 GSL-SE!
I love these things
This one's a little beat up. But for $950, I think it was worth it.
Let's see... it has tons of slop in the steering (probably the steering gear, manual) it pulls hard to the right, the steering wheel is waay off to the left, it's got a horrible vibration, the rear calipers (i think) are locked up, the paint is horrible, the interior is... outdated, it has no stereo, no speakers, the A/C doesn't work, the driver's door won't open from the outside, the windows fall off their tracks, there's a bunch of leftover wiring and boxes from the sound system the previous owner had in it, the speedometer doesn't work, and the cruise doesn't work.
However, it's a GSL-SE! My favorite of all Rx-7's. I love the FB chassis, and I love fuel injection (can't stand carburetors). The engine's strong too. I did a compression test on it today and found at least 105 psi on each face of each rotor (used the old hold the button down method).
It has some ghetto work done to it though. Take a look at that exhaust!
Not even welded all the way around after the stock catalytic converter, and that muffler.... ughh.. Oh. And the sway bar link's my favorite
It's definitely going to take alot of tlc to get this thing done right. That means it's getting a full-on drivetrain out, stripped down to the bone restoration. I'll probably go with a charcoal exterior with a black suede interior, and fix all the worn out stuff along the way. The engine's fine, I'll just clean it up and dress it up really nice.

There it is, lurking in my garage, next to my turbo vert!

Anyone know what the hole between the tail lights is for?

The sway bar link with the allthread is the passenger's side... the correct one is on the driver's side

Did anyone notice that the front tires are directional, and that they're on backwards? Sigh.....

Well, I think it's supposed to have a catalytic converter. It's a 13B.
Yep, it's a heap. At least it wasn't riced. The style's just really... 1990's? I mean, who does tweed anyways!
It's going to take a few years to restore, but it'll be worth it. Everything screwed up is getting replaced, including that black piece on the back. BlackDragonAuto is going to become my best friend...

I love black dragon. Can fix that sway bar bolt (i think thats what it is) really easy too, I'm about to do mine, the bolt sheared lol.
Maybe the hole between the tail lights was in preparation for the furrai rotary shaped muffler? Looks a bit small though haha.
Good luck with it, looks like a solid car aside from its foibles.

1) it's an Rx-7 (with a rotary still)
2) it's an FB
3) it's a GSL-SE
and 4) it's manual
... and that's about all that I like about it.

Let me add- DON'T WORRY!! I'm going to do this car right! I'm not leaving it like it is at all. I mean, look at my vert:

It's got a TII engine, and other than the aluminum air dam for cooling, it looks STOCK! I mean, it even has a FMIC, and you couldn't tell from that pic. I spend alot of time on my cars to make them look good.
How much for the unmolested piece in question?
it's not that bad....needs the interior de-riced,but other then that,it's not so bad. that's the problem with buying somebody elses "project",you get all their problems and mistakes with it.
Vey nice, I'm sure you'll find ways to make big improvements with your new project. If you promise to restore it to something like stock condition just send me a shipping address for the tail piece, I'll try to get it out in the next few days.
lol seriously, rip that cloth off the steering wheel shroud pleaseeee
someone had way too much fun on the paint, its uneven all across the car. looks like they damaged the fender and spray painted it back to close or something.
The hole in the taillight is for the parachute. get her up to about 100 and slam on the brakes... youll see....
And the directional tire thing is easy... swap sides. think about it.. They are mounted correctly just on the wrong side of the car
