Fan Clutch
Hello, I'm a newbie, so please excuse me if I'm not on target with the questions. I have 1985 GS FB, which I have had for a couple of months and just getting it on the road.
I believe I need a new fan clutch and cant seem to be able to locate one. I also will need a new belt. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be forever grateful.
Suggestions welcomed! Thx, Jackson
PS tried Ebay, Rock Auto, Parts Geek with zero luck.

I did a Google search and found this new one.

I have a couple of spares. $125 + shipping.
New clutch fans are hard to find. You can check out Facebook or place a wanted-to-by on this site in the MarketPlace here: https://www.rx7club.com/market/
How did you determine the old one was bad?

I think you "should" be able to stop the fan with your finger. Also it depends on the temp of the air flowing over it. The hotter the radiator the more it "locks up" but never fully locks up. That's the beauty of a fan clutch... even at full engagement it will slip a little if you gun the throttle. It isn't "directly" mounted to the rotating assembly like the non-clutch fans from the 50's/60/70's.
I got my replacement clutch from Mazdabestpartsonline.com for $231.73 plus shipping ($242.57 total). This was the best price I could find on the web last year.
If you googoo "'85 RX-7 Cooling Fan Clutch" you get lots of $100 hits, but the folks here say they never fit right. Buy genuine Mazda for this part. And yes, it's redicuously expensive compared to a Chevy or furd fan-clutch from the same time. Welcome to RX-7's.

thanks, I'm going to install the new belt and see how that goes.
There's a lot to learn. The previous owner installed a Weber Carb and I think it's drawing too much gas. I'm going to play with that next.
fun times!
