Engine color opinion
hey guys, im sure you have all saw my wire tuck thread in the tech section (if not, see sig). Ive been thinking about color combo's for my engine. The car is to be championship white, gold enkei mesh with polished lip wheels, and some blue accents (-an fittings, filter pedestal, IC pipe couplers, filter..). There is also going to be some polishing in the engine bay as well. Originally i wanted to paint my motor black irons, white housings, polished front cover, but now I'm thinking that if i get a leak or something that it may stain the white.. Or it may just be really hard to keep the white clean to begin with. What are you opinions on this? Thanks for the help!

I've always thought the red plates, raw aluminum housings look was a good one.
That, or the more original-looking gun-metal plates with aluminum housings. Polish the housings if you have the patience for it, though they will eventually dull, being aluminum & all.
Never been a fan of painted rotor housings, myself.
White on an engine will be impossible to keep clean enough, IMO. Even without any leaks, you get a lot of crud drawn in thru the rad, and splashed up from the road, every time you drive.

if i end up not using the white color idea i had, ill probably just end up doing a natural look. Paint the irons the duplicolor "iron" paint and use aluminum paint to do the housings. Id really like to do white though, does anyone have any experience with white engines? The car is by no means a daily driver. I have way too much time and effort into it to drive on shitty days lol Its my going to be my summer play car
Have you thought of maybe black irons and gold housings? No matter what color combos you chose its guna get dirty, and with the colors your car is any of the appropriate colors but the.tuck will help you clean things when you feel like showing off.

i did a white rotor housing engine, it was dirty before it made it in the car! bad choice! i'd do either stock, or maybe blue irons with stock rotor housings.
I think the idea of red with the natural aluminum housings would look nice with the white and gold you will have on the outside of the car. Not too much red, though.
Black irons and silver housings is always classy, especially in a super clean engine bay. The engine bay will be white right?

Its good to hear from someone that actually did the white. I know any color will get dirty, but did yours stain at all? or did it clean like any other color?

I did think of gold housing and black irons.. but i know for a fact that people would in some way associate that with the pittsburgh steelers... its not that i hate the steelers, but i probably care more about what kind of socks my great grandma wore than football at all haha I had a yellow and black truck once that i sold for that very reason!

Man, we do like similar stuff. I also thought of doing white housings. With blue irons. I've seen a rotary with polished/white housings.. Looked very nice.
Gold would like nice, but you have to think of colors that are going to match your blue parts you have in there also. That would rule red out for me.
I was tired of seeing housings painted silver, too many of them lol.

darker colors are better, remember this is an engine and it will collect oil and dirt as well as chip the paint while working on the engine showing the darker base metals.
that is partially why the black and silver is the most common, chips and paint flaking show through to the base metals which are similar in color.

Those are actually REW housings with the coolant seal groove machined into them. They were used but practically brand new and only 150 each and about or less than that for the machining. The housings I gave my builder were garbage and he had those handy.

The silver and red look awesome in my opinion, but I do agree with twinkletoes on the fact that there are a lot of blue parts under my hood that would prevent me from going red and silver. I guess I'd lean towards the white and blue myself as already posted above.
