Differences between "port"

For as long as I've been around rx7's, I've heard all types of talk about bridgeport, periferal port, street port, and some I don't even remember.
Is there a thread that explains all the different types of engine "port" that can be done and the pros/cons of each one and why/when you would do them? I want to understand what they are and why people do them so when I'm reading a thread or watching a video I'll know what they're talking about.
Right now it's like a foreign language to me
I appreciate anyone willing to help me understand :

Get the book "How to modify your RX7" by Dave Emmanuel and Jim Downing. It can explain everything you want to know and more. Theres a copy online at http://www.foxed.ca.

This is about the most simple way to explain it.
Porting
It can get pretty in depth when it comes to measuring port timing, and port shape. But this basically explains the types of ports.

This is exactly what I was hoping to learn and know, thanks!

I was also trying to get the electronic copy of the book "how to modify your rx7" from the link above but it wasn't working... maybe the link is typed wrong?
