CLEAN 56k mile SA on CL

NOT MY CAR!!!

1979 Mazda RX-7 56k original MINT! MUST GO!

If I had the $$ I'd buy this and get rid of my '85, so I could have a rotary powered vehicle that *might* pass CA emissions standards (if I end up there in January)

Value?

So is this a $4K car, if it checks out? Haven't really paid attention to prices in a while. I know...it's worth what someone will pay, but what are these going for in this condition, now?

Thanks.

I'm kind of puzzled as to how you change only the FRONT rotor housing seal... & also why you'd need a new metering pump at only 56k miles.

Pix are clearly from two different periods; one in 2007, one much later but no idea when.

In the final picture, the low-angle one with the snow blower in the background, you can see road salt deposits on the tires.

Yea, some people are better off when they say less. Don't know why a 56K mile car that has not saw a winter needs a muffler either unless it was changed by choice. General appearance is nice, the mechanicals is what I'd question and want to see in person. The fact is, our cars have not yet ever been considered widely collectable and as such, not very many of them get a ton of money spent maintaining or fixing them up.

wellll... if that is the original paint, it would be temptingggggggggg..... kudos for no mods (ex muffler).
if its what it claims to be, its priced about right these days, maybe even a tad low.

Reading it again, it sounds like he's talking about the front COVER gasket, or possibly the e-shaft seal. Front cover, oil pan, metering pump... sounds like it had an oil system issue at one point.

Checked car out today

Not really the right fit for me, right now, but it is a very solid, true-mileage, original condition car.

Interior is nice, with a few very minor issues.

Exterior and body is solid, with zero rust and very minor cosmetic issues, aside from the PS front fender being repaired and repainted a long time ago.

Engine bay is original and needs elbow grease and a little resto & paint to clean it up.

Engine front rotor oil seals were replaced several years ago, original rears were re-used. Oil pan gasket replaced at the same time. Engine has good power and doesn't seem to smoke.

Exhaust is original, aside from muffler which has been replaced due to a rusted bracket on the original.

Steering is tight. Runs and drives very vell. Brakes are not as good as my GSL, but might be typical of an SA.

For a 33 year old car, this is in great condiiton. Could be used as a DD, but deserves to be protected and restored. Owner has done a great job of taking care of it by keeping it garaged and out of the weather.

I recall early rx-7's had a problem with the front seal.

Spring of 1980, (when ram devices were still measured in microns).
