It all good brutha Doug. I just bet most folks would like to see their year be the big year on da sticker. Not the year before ya know. Besides these will be replicas so it will not do a thang for ur car. Cept if u get your year big people will at least know what year model it is. Lol. And for the sa's I'd get the one that list 8 yrs straight. Word.

Yeah, DivinDriver pointed that out about 15 posts back.
My purist comment was aimed at Ray Green, I like to pick at him for some reason

As it has been stated and accepted, the cars didn't get the stickers for their year because they weren't physically there to get the sticker when the dealers got them. So what if you were to drive back to the dealer when they got the stickers? Maybe that's how Cybyrd's 83 got the 83 sticker. And if you were slick enough you could have driven your SA in there when they were putting the 87 stickers in the 88's and gotten one of those. May be something we could ask an old Mazda dealer just to satisfy our curiosity.

Or a dealer trying to pass off a car as being 1yr newer lol. Or maybe the original owner was a dealer. The car was about 6 yrs old when I got it--from a dealer. Ha! The one thing I've learned in my life is to never say never. Y'all know of any other (rare type sticker) folks would want? I can't imagine one more rare than this one

Hey dudes, you guys can drive around with the incorrect IMSA/GTU on your car if you like, but for me it has to be there and it has to be the correct year.

DD would understand.

DD would understand, as do I. That said, a glimpse of the DD engine bay puts him squarely in the aestheticist portion of the spectrum, though I'm not certain of its relation to the purist portion. I'm still learning.

Well if I get these things we need to call them the same thing. For the purist that take a sticker that serious be sure to let me know what the big year is that u want. I understand that the 85 will have the 84 year big but u just need to let me know as that's how ima keep em straight. I'm not gonna be that anul about a sticker. A fake one at that. Not to mention as ray stated my year wouldnt even have one. So if u have a 85 lemme know u want the 84 sticker.

You mean; You guys can drive around with the incorrect "FAKE" IMSA/GTU if you like.
I think we all agree that it has to be there.
Saying only 83-85 can correctly display them (the fake stickers) is IMHO, ridiculous. The earlier cars are the ones that won the races.

Ray, didn't you remove your air pump or put a header on your car or something?
And doesn't DD have some colorful things(silicone?) in his rats nest? Pretty sure they didn't come from the dealer that way. Oh how the purist of the purists must look down you

I will admit I do "somewhat" feel what you're saying. I may only go as high as the 85 on my 81. Indicating all the years the for the 1st gens. I think it kinda sucks that if someone asks you what that sticker is, and you explain those are the years this car won the manufacturers championships. Oh, so 80,81,82 huh. Then have to further explain that they won more years that are not shown on the sticker... blah blah blah.....

Thank u Stevan. That's what I was kinda getting at when I keep say n its JUST a sticker. My 82 sticker will show 80,81, and a big ole fat 82. Lol. And this purist still has the 1982 clarion stereo and cassette player with the original antenna. Btw--stereo still works. With a new used Mazda air conditioner. Thank god

Stevan, yep I always dump the stock exhaust in favor of a full RB system, which is an UPGRADE.

I also dump the AC and PS if still there, AC and PS are PARASITES.

But I always keep the stock Clarion sound system, anything else would be a DOWNGRADE.

And having the correct IMSA/GTU sticker for your year FB is PRICELESS.

Ray,
We all have our own "opinions" on what are upgrades or downgrades, no one decides for us.
Having AC on a hot rainy day in FL is priceless to me. So is an original IMSA/GTU sticker installed by the dealer/manufacturer, a fake one not so much, maybe $10- $15...if they become available.

So still no word from Letzgo?

It's not much better here in Atlanta. But AC in a true two seat sports car with an IMSA/GTU sticker on the back?

No way.

I have a better solution. I work a flexible work schedule, so I drive into work (55 miles) before the sun comes up. Nice and cool then.

Then I leave before the Atlanta traffic hits at 3 pm. Out on the freeway there's plenty of fresh air, even on the hottest days.

Sure helps with the power output and gas mileage, not to mention the clutter under the hood and excess baggage.

I've also noticed that having the correct IMSA/GTU sticker installed on your rear left quarter panel window gives you another 10 HP and a few more mpg's.

Some folks call us purists. I call us smart.

10 hp. Lol good 1 ray. But until I do put a sticker on my left rear window I am all original purist. My a/c was equipped with the air brand new so if u did remove the a/c wouldn't that be more of a mod than a little sticker that may or may not --no they defently will give u 10 extra hp hahaha. Btw my 1st full tank with the air on high I got 19 mpg. Not too bad for an old girl. I got 25 without the air. I now understand ur situation but in my situation it would be completely barbaric. Fo real doe

And really the folks here that don't have a/c prob don't have a job. It's just nasty hot out there. Take ur breath away and takes all the fun out of driving. If I can just get to October I prob won't use it until next may. Just messing witcha on the mod thing man. If u can handle it it is more fun.

You can always click the AC off for any spirited driving, the compressor becomes a free spinning pulley. The whole system weighs around 35 lbs, some folks have that extra weight around their waist. I'll keep my "parasite" under the hood to keep me comfortable, at any time in any weather. Especially when it's hot and rainy. Really, if you don't have AC, and it's hot and raining (quite the common event in the south), what do you do? Sweat like a pig and frantically try to wipe the never ending fog off the windows? Um.. Yeah, pretty much, that. Wow, that's convenient.

Ray, I don't call you a purist, you've modified your car. SHOUTING your opinions doesn't make them so.

CyByrd, you can do anything you want to your car and still call yourself a purist. You can call yourself anything, but the people around you usually have a more accurate idea.

If y'all are interested send friend request my way. Those will get priority and make finding u guys much easier. I have no idea when they will be made. He is still making the 80-81-82's right now. He's one of these types who start and stop until he gets motivated. Drives me crazy but he is good. If any1 beats him to it I'll buy 2. Word!!!!!!!!!!!
