Championship stickers
Anyone know where to get the championship stickers that went on the rear side glass? Think it was an 8 yr streak over Porsche. Looking for one for an 82. Please forgive if this is not the right place to put this---so many rules to digest. Lol. It just bugs me that mine doesn't have one

Thanks Stevan. 10 year old thread and the final verdict was a guy from puerto Rico could do 1 for $115. And not the original size.. I guess that's a big ole no thank ya. Damitman!!! Well if anyone else finds anything lemme know. Thanks.

I really don't know how well this would work but probably better than you would think. The big issue is the color of the background is kind of a metallic gold and I don't know how close you could get to that with a printer.
Good luck!

Alright, I had the camera so I waked out and took picts from both cars. I uploaded to a picassa album because the albums here don't seem to allow hi res images.
IMSA GTU Stickers
Perhaps these will help. They seem to be hi res enough and once cleaned up and sized appropriately I think you could make your own.

Thanks man. Somebody could get rich selling these. Heck I'd give $20ish. Maybe a little more. Btw u have 2 85's amd neither one shows the victorys in 84 & 85. Did you replace the glass with an 83 glass?

Hi, I'm the guy who bought the IMSA/GTU sticker on ebay a few years ago from someone in Puerto Rico. At the time he had many of these to sell and they cost about $15 shipped, not $115 as indicated by the post above.
It is an excellent reproduction, only slightly larger than the original, but not enough to notice unless you overlay them. I haven't been able to track this source down, but just so you folks know, it's been done already, so I'm sure it can be done again for a reasonable cost to the buyer and a good profit for the maker.
Here's a pic of the one I got:

Original glass in both cars. I have never seen a different sticker. Was there one that touted the later wins or were they just using up the stock of stickers?

The stickers differed from year to year. As I understand it, dealers would install these stickers as status symbols showing the RX-7's recent wins in the GTU class.
Here's a few photos from the stickers on my various 84 and 85 GSLs over the years:
And here's a pic of the one from Doug Ingraham's photo album from his link above:
I agree, if you have a 1st gen RX-7 you need one of these to complete the package. That's why I snagged up that one on ebay a few years ago, to put on my current 85 GSL project, which is the first GSL I've owned (out of 5) that didn't come with one.
It's the same as the 1982 sticker with 1983 printed in the middle, as in the top and bottom photos above. This "reproduction" is so good I'm starting to wonder if it's really an original old stock sticker that never got installed.
I only paid $15, but at this point I wouldn't sell it, even for $115!

I'm sure it would, just don't tell the mods or they'll want a piece of the action.
I think you could make a killing with a good reproduction. If you could get one for each year, double the price per unit.
Those pictures I posted above are probably the best I have, all taken installed and through the glass, which always degrades the image somehow.
Reproduced, I'm afraid those images might not be very convincing, but if that's all we have, that's what you try.
Alternatively, some good detective work might turn up higher quality images of uninstalled stickers, ideally the original art work, if those exist (and they must, somewhere).
When I put mine in I'll do my best to get some good photos.
But short of that, here's what I came up with on the web:
Here's one they must have put on the FC:

Is the 1983 the only one that was done in silver? Also if anyone has a picture of the 1986 one I would appreciate it. Trying to give my guy all the years so I can see what he comes up with.

A friend of mine has started a business making stickers, I'll hit him up here to try to get some progress towards these babies...
I'm also considering asking him about making stickers for the RX7Club as well, as a way for members to indicate to other members that they are on here. Something that could be personalized with people's user names...nobody steal that!
