Car names

Do any of you name your cars? I’ve had mine since 1984 and have never named any of cars that I have owned. Nor do I distinguish the sex of the car. Thinking I might now.

I haven't named or assigned a gender to any of my cars. I usually just call the cars by their color and year, and model.

Little Red Bastid. (bastard...)
AKA "The Bastid".
Have dropped so many world-market SA parts+ into it (st. wheel-Japan/instr cluster - europe/rear taillights - europe/Goldie waffles - LS, etc)
that it has become a bit of an OE Bastard

Also, it's Red.

Yes...

1979 SA- Rubbie
1979 limited- PARTS
1980 SA- Sally
1980 J10- Jewel
1984 town car-Jessica
1986 Comanche- Rebecca
2013 explorer- kids call it "Luna", I say it ain't old enough yet. Car needs some age to get an attitude before a name, in my opinion.

haven't thought about naming my car. but before I do, I must understand what my car identifies as.

my old vw built porsche 914 identified as a porsche 356, expensive porsche service bill, expensive porsche parts, cantankerous, and a bitch to work on.

I think it's weird to assign gender to a car. My RX-7's name is "the red car" which doesn't really effectively distinguish it from my wife's red car lol.

when I go to the vet, I can't even keep my cats' names straight So why would I trouble myself with another name to remember?

Like Midnight says above, I call my car "Car" and my son "Boy" and my wife "Woman" when I talk to them. But of course they have actual names. And when I'm having a really good time, or bad time, in my car I say "come on Car, you can do it" or "come on Buddy, were almost there".

My Mother is a car person and has always had a female name for all her cars. Pearl, Bessie, Ruby, etc. I just can't do it. My cars definitely have personality and life, but I just can't name them. Car, Truck, Van, Subie, that's about it.

At work its common to say "Hey Mr Electrician" or "Excuse me Mr Carpenter". Maybe that's where I get it.
