I put a starter in a Previa once. The thing had close to a quarter million miles on it and still drove fine! One bolt takes a medium length socket attached to a universal, connected to a 3" extension, connected to a universal, connected to a 18" extension, connected to a universal, connected to another 18" extension, connected to my flex head ratchet, lol.

One of the local car builders did a Caravan once as his toy. He pro streeted it, converted it to rear wheel drive, custom paint and interior, and powered it with a 392 hemi. It really was an exersise it efficiency. He could scare the crap out of more passengers per ride that any seven owner ever could!

Well, this weekend should be an interesting race. Now that my race rubber is burned down to the cords, I'll be back on the Sumitomos at least until spring. RotaryRacer is going to be at the race this weekend, with his very nicely prepared SE on race rubber. He has always been "the guy I want to catch", but he hasn't had his 7 out to race all year. I've managed to come close to him a few times, but only beaten him twice that I can think of.

So Saturday it looks like I'll have another shot at it. He'll have the bigger motor, fuel injection, suspension that was set up by someone important, tires, and at least a few years more experience than me. And I'll have, well, just me and my baby. So it should be a good time. He's a really nice guy, but I'd really love to beat him.

There's also a Miata signed up in my class, along with a few other RX7s. I'm sure we'll manage to shoot some video, so I should have something to show you guys afterwards. Wish me luck!

My bro' and I run an '80 SA and an '85 SE in the PHA (PA Hill Climb Assoc.). Our competition consists of Miatas (of course), a Fiero GT, a 2nd gen 7, a Datsun 2K and a Sirocco. We're competitive with most of the cars but there is one Miata that just eats our lunch. The driver used to pilot SuperVees and can really drive but that Miata is laying down some serious ponies also. We use Kumho V710's on the SA and Hoosiers on the SE. The SA has a Sterling, DFLIDIS, Pacesetter header with straight exhaust, Tokicos and 400 lb springs front with 150 lb springs rear. The SE has a RB header with full exhaust minus the cat, Koni coilovers, panhard bar, Trilink and is lowered about 3". Neither car is titled for street use. The SE rides like a buckboard and corners flat as can be but is down right scary when you hit imperfections in the road surface. The SA is much softer and has more body roll but it is controllable and absorbs bad road surfaces (which we see a lot of) much better.

Scott Fraser in 4th place is in my region, running a 41.6. I am about 3-4 secs slower on a 60 secs course...

I got to see Kentetsu race this past May in Wayland, MI, and he's got some serious talent. I was running C-Stock in my '85 with just an exhaust and RB springs, illuminas in the front and blues in the back, and the difference in body motion control between my 7 and his through some of the rough sections was impressive. Hopefully I'll be able to make it downstate next year for some auto-x's.

You should be running in STS2 with lowering springs. Also, FB runs in ES not CS.

Man, that really was a rough course, easily the roughest I've ever run on outside of Rallycross. I've still got some bruises! I think that was one of those rare times when a stock suspension would have done better than mine, simply because of the softer springs. I'd still do it again though, because it was a blast. It was great seeing you out there Whitey.

You're right, my bad, I was in ES (just checked out pictures from the auto-x). I asked the guy that was running the auto-x what i should run in, he asked me what modifications i had and he put me in ES.

Well, it was a great day for racing. We ended up using a slightly modified version of last year's course, which I really liked. The event takes place in such a small lot, it takes some serious imagination to come up with a 50 second course.

So now I have suffered my second loss in class for the year. RotaryRacer came out and took care of business right away on his first run, laying down a 45.5 second run that I just wasn't able to match. I ended up with a 47.5, and that was as close as I could get. He really did a great job out there.

I can't complain about the car though, she ran great and did everything I asked her to. I think the biggest problem I had (other than no race rubber, of course) was that I just couldn't get myself settled down for a good run. I was having way too much fun sliding around out there to concentrate on going fast. lol. At the start of every run, I'd tell the starter that this time I was going to slow down and go fast. He'd just laugh and shake his head, telling me he'd believe it when he saw it. I just had **** for self control, and that's all there was to it.

I only wish the Hoosiers had had another day's worth of abuse left in them, so I could have given R.J. (RotaryRacer) a better run for his money. But hey, the worst day of racing is still better than the best day at work.

I'll get some videos up when I get time. I have a lot of footage of Man in Black doing his drift thing around the autocross course too. He's always a crowd pleaser. Although, in the videos I can hear a lot of people cheering for me and my "damn the timer, I'm here to have fun" driving style too.
