Best responses you've ever gotten to your first-gen?

Complimentary, dumb, funny, ridiculous, whatever: Let's hear 'em.

My only one was during the engine swap on my old '85 S. I had the engine out on the floor of my parents' garage, and a car buddy looked at it and said, "It's a V6, right?" In his defense, at the time he was relatively new to working on cars, and he later learned a lot and went on to buy a very nice FD. So there's that.

Just a couple of weeks ago, after driving my SE to work, one of the sales execs described it as a "pretty badass little car." I'd use a lot of adjectives to describe the first-gen, but "badass" (at least for a stock vehicle) isn't the first one that comes to mind. But it was a compliment, and I took it in stride.

What about you? How many times has your first-gen been mistaken for a Z-car? Has it ever gotten any attention (positive or negative) from the opposite sex?

Too many to count; seems like every time I drive it somewhere I meet someone who "used to have one" (or whose parents had one!) or "always wanted one."

Guy stops next to me in traffic and rolls down his window to ask "What model Porsche is that? I really love those old ones!"

Two boys, about 9yrs old, on their bikes as I roll there way. No words, just one elbowing the other while pointing at the car with an expression I instantly recognized.

An old couple stopped beside me at a light. They roll down their window and the old guy gives me a big thumbs up and say "cool car".

Drive by a guy in a CR-V. As I go by I see him giving me a huge thumbs up with a big smile on his face.

Pulled up next to a young guy and his gf in his slammed Ranger. Looked good sitting on the ground. He yells, "Hey, I love your car."

I get a lot of looks too. Makes me feel a little better about the time and money I put into her

I was trailering my RX-7 back from the engine builder. Out of the corner of my eye I notice a guy in four door car with mismatched color doors and fenders pass me with a big smile and a thumbs up. I got a good laugh. Made my day.

I usually get asked how much you want for it and can I get a ride?

I just say not for sale and sure I guess.
