Back in the scene, now with an FB
I'll make this brief, haha. Been out of the scene since 03, 04. Just picked up a decent 85 GSL-SE. This will be my first FB, having previously owned a 87 N/A, and an 88 TII. The car is in decent shape, all stock, 130k on it, and in need of some attention and minor body work. Price was super right though, so now I'll finally have my third 7.
Primary goals are getting it back into road worthy shape, and doing all the maintainence that has been neglected over the years. Oil cooler lines are shot, replaced once with NAPA mades ones, and leaking like hell now. Rear quarter is whacked, but not beyond repair, and then just general going over, and replacement of parts, fluids, etc.
Secondary goals are adding a turbo to the 13b, and then a possible motor swap in the near future to a JDM 12AT. (Just something I have always wanted.)
The main use of the car is just a on-going project that will probably take on many different forms over the time I have it. But I'm just looking to get it into better condition, and then get it going faster.
Chris-

Nothing good yet, I'll post up something this weekend, or as soon as I get it home. I may be temporairly storing it elsewhere while I finish some home renovations that have furniture taking up my garage space here.
It is brown though, with brown cloth interior, interior is clean, paint is faded, clear coat is peeling, and there are some surface rust spots. Rear cargo bin area does not seem to be too awful. It's definitely not a looker, but will do for a project car. I'm considering keeping the exterior looking crappy, and just getting it to be mechanically 100%, and blasting and re-doing the underside so it is a "sleeper" (and to cut costs) after the turbo installation.

Went to go get the car, and the darn starter would not engage. Unfortunately I do not have access to a truck or trailer, so I was not able to get it. I'll keep looking....

Haha, it sounds like the starter was not disengaging (sp) when I was able to get it to half **** crank.
I gave the starter a few good whacks with a hammer and it still did not want to kick over.
I have arranged to get it towed by a friend, and was able to actually get the car at a better price. Should be able to get it sometime this coming week if all works out this time around.

condition is "decent", color is goldish, brown. paint is faded, clear coat is peeling, one quarter pannel has a good ding in it. Interior is brown, however, very clean.
Undercarriage is solid. Going to get it Thursday, new starter arrived today. Im going to bump start it to get it out of there using another friends vehicle to pull it.
Future plans have changed now, and will be what I have always considered bastardazation.....
5.3 Chevy Vortec swap, however, turbocharged... (seems to be the most cost effective at this time.)
Thanks for the congrats.! Pics will be posted soon, and then a build thread...

Attempted to push start it, it fired once, and then died. Trying to push start it after that yielded no results. (By push starting I mean pulling with a Dodge Ram).
Installed a new battery today, and a new starter. The car is cranking 100%. However, the fuel pump is not working at all. Not sure if the AFM door is stuck, or what.
Is there anyway to jump the fuel pump relay so the pump starts pumping when the key is ON?
The fuel pump relay is located near the AFM right? (photos would be great.) I guess I need to check the connections for the trailing ignition also to see if I have a signal.
This is my first 1st gen. car, and I currently have it at a friends home, but do not want to change the fuel pump there unless absolutely necessary.
Any help is vastly appreciated.

Car is home now and in the garage. I did end up having to replace the pump outside in my buddies driveway. At least it was getting a good 12 volts at the factory wiring.
I aired up the tires, fueled up (since the sending unit is bad), and drove it home today. It runs very well, but definitely needs brakes and an alignment, as well as some bushings replaced. (I intend to upgrade the suspension to racing beats kit, and put some new KYB or other brand shocks on it.)
I'm definitely re-thinking the LS swap now, and thinking of going with a J-SPEC turbo motor at some point in the distant future.
I'll post pics soon, but just wanted to say it's home finally.

For future reference, yes, the connector is located in a wire cluster under the washer fluid tank. Its a two pin female harness, that, if it was longer, you could accidentally connect to the low washer fluid sensor...luckilly its far enough away. Just jump the two wires and viola - the pump runs when the key is in the accessory position.

It's down in the garage now, waiting for me to get to changing the fluids, and do the brakes. I'm going to swap the tie rod ends, ball joints, and get some polyurethane bushings for the rest of it, then new shocks, springs, and etc.
