i have decided that my next project car is going to be another 1st gen, its been too long and i really like em, etc. i was talking to my friend about it, and if its still with us, i want the silver bullet back, as its one of those cars where everyone took a turn with it. the trouble is that its been sold and parted out at least twice, and the only thing i really remember is that it was built on 4/1/1985, and sold new at the dealership i used to work at, 41178, Almaden Mazda.

so i started looking in the way that was most available, which is running the warranty history of every Rx7 built on 4/1/1985, and below are some of the findings. i would post the geographical locations these cars went to also, but in 1 day of production i don't think its very representative (40 went to California, 20 some to florida, none to NJ, 1 to NY, 3 to AK..)

the last time i tried something like this is with the 95 FD, and i was unprepared for the amount of cars Mazda built in 1985! 222 is in one day about half the total run of the 95 FD, which is a model year that went from 8/94 to 12/95!

That's some extremely interesting information!!! Where were you able to source it from? I know the month my 85 was produced in but not the day. Willing to help you find the sliver bullet of course. Any more info on the car?

 

info is right from Mazda, i'm running the warranty histories! i have a few other vins, but i think i'm going to continue from 4/1, the start of the painted mirror/shaded glass GSL-SE's to the end of production.

interestingly Mazda lists the start of the painted mirror/shaded glass production with F893766 (i think, not in front of the big spreadsheet), and it is a GSL-SE, but its also not a color that would have painted mirrors (v9?)

updated numbers, this is US/Canada/Guam production for 4/1/1985 and 4/2/1985. there is not a ton of other info, but will include a few other things as i learn how to do them in excel...

most inestering combo so far, there are 3 PZ black GSL-SE's with grey interior, which seems like it would be fairly badass.

most odd, there are 2 RH Sunrise red cars with red interiors....

average car seems to have been sold at the end of May, makes me wonder if the 'you get a better deal at the end of the month' thing is true.
